Can anyone confirm what Alex Crook (terrible journalist in my opinion - who thinks he is a superb one) said on the radio.
He claimed Todibo and Alvarez are both refusing to play for West Ham, also claimed Wan-Bissaka failed to turn up for pre season photos. He also claimed someone else in there but I forget who it was - that will come to me.
I have reservations because it came from him (and talkrubbish).

Yup. This has been in the news for weeks.
Diouf acting up in training.
Alvarez and Todibo refused to play.
AWB also hasn't turned up for training or photos since Pre-Season started.
Magassa is at least staying professional, but wants out.
Who do these guys think they are.... A big part of the reason we're in this league.

Clearly we will now be shopping in a very different market. I actually don't think many of our players will be in demand.
I think Taty, Mavropanos, Areola, Todibo will be out the door. The others I think it's a flip of a coin. That is inclusive of Wan Bissaka, Bowen, Summerville.
It worries me some are keen to just chuck the youngsters in. Other than Potts, Earthy, who are closer than the rest, and by some distance - the others are way off senior football, particularly in the Championship.
We were linked with Hackney before, that would be a serious statement of intent from the club. Although I accept there may well be bigger clubs now in for him this summer.

Scarles, Kante, Marshall, Magassa are all good enough for the Championship, and others can play a role too. There's literally no point in having an academy if we block their progress and never use them.

I would have thought a Prem team would have been in for Hackney, as we should have been previously. If we had started with a midfield of Fernandes, Hackney, Paqueta, we probably would not have gone down. Instead, we started with JWP, Soucek and Irving as our midfield options.

I think there is plenty of talent in the youth side. Many said Kante wasn't good enough, but apart from when we played a lower-league side in the cup (can't remember who), he has given a good account of himself. When he first played for West Ham, I was massively impressed with Potts, but if anything he has regressed, but hopefully a new manager can get the best out of him.
Scarles is better than Diouf. Don't know much about Earthy and Marshall.

I have my doubts on Scarles. No doubt the fans want him to do well, but I see him playing lower down the pyramid in a few years.
I only single out Earthy and Potts, as both have won awards whilst out on loan with other clubs, Young / Player of the Year with their respective clubs. Lewis Orford is the other worth a mention.
Marshall might have a breakout season, but I would worry if it were him and another as the main forward options. I agree we should be looking to offer opportunities to the youngsters, but to say Kante, Fearon etc. is the midfield is a no from me. I don't see any of those, other than those I've specified, being West Ham players in the long run.

General enquiry here - I watched a match at Boreham Wood and their player - Abdul Abdulmalik was superb.
I have plenty of mates who play semi professional football and they are obviously supremely talented. I think we forget how incredibly good you have to be to even play at National League level.
How big is the jump from Non or National League to League One or the Championship?
It looked for all the world he could play for us. My mate said he was released from Millwall as a kid. Is this the sort of player we could look at? He looked far too good for that level.

Wasn't he the lad linked to the Swedish side? I saw a bit about him on SSN. He has got good attributes: pace, low centre of gravity, etc.
I'm all for looking at these types, Vardy, Antonio and Ian Wright came through this way, good chars and good players, but it is a fairly big jump up, I think.

I also think they should look at non league or lower league players, especially now that we are in the Championship. I know I'm going back a bit, but Allan Taylor came from Rochdale, Devonshire came from Southall, and I think Dean Ashton started at Crewe, although I think we bought him off Norwich. I'm sure there are many more to mention.

There definitely seems to be something wrong with the way academies are coaching creativity out of the modern player. Perhaps this is an area WHU could exploit through new thinking.

HD, Dean Ashton was local to me and a legend everywhere he played. Crewe had a great academy, aside from the unpleasantness that went before. It saddens me to think how good he could have been without the injury he got on England duty.

DH2, Dean Ashton was a fantastic player & was crippled in an England training session by Sean Wright Phillips, Ian W Phillips's son??Was never the same after that! Always thought there was some kind of resentment from Wright Phillips to tackle another colleague like that in a bloody training session?That's why I dislike our players being called up for International duties, would have had a great career ahead of him & for the Hammers! ⚒⚒⚒⚒

Is anyone else gutted by the sale of Freddie Potts? Feel like this one has gone massively under the radar.
I fully expected him to cement a first team place in the middle of the park this year.
Was it a case of the move being a very good one for him personally? Or did the powers that be feel that at 23 he wasn’t going to improve beyond his current level?
Shame - I feel £10M is buttons, and I always like to see East End lads in the team, wish him well.

I would've kept him for next year at least, and re-evaluated depending on whether we get promoted or not. Whether he is good enough for the Prem is one question, but he is definitely good enough for the Championship, having already had a good season for Pompey there.

IG, what I have heard is that it was solely a financial decision. Basically, as he has come out of the academy, outlay is zero, sale 10 million, therefore a profit on the player of 10 million, whereas with most of the others, JWP, Magassa, we could potentially make a loss.
I'm with you in that I would much prefer him to stay. He showed glimpses of being a really good player, although he did lose his way a bit. But he would be fine in the Championship. I get the feeling he doesn't see eye to eye with Nuno.

I have to ask, in case it’s only me - but I haven’t been this excited for an upcoming season in years. Is that the case for others?
The Championship is a gruelling league, by February, March time, it is really brutal.
I personally don’t care whether it’s Lincoln City or Manchester City, I would be there regardless. I think only the armchairs care on that front.
The Championship has plenty to offer. No VAR (which cost us last year), proper fans - no one supports some of the teams in that division for glory, more accessible away games, I certainly intend to hit most in not all the London and just outside London away games.
Someone posted about true fans getting behind the team - I agree. What else are you going to do? Like I said I don’t care who turns up on the Saturday, it’s who I go with, the pre match ritual, the banter, the football is almost a secondary. Get behind the team, I am absolutely buzzing for this year.

Irongeez, I feel the same. Being one of the favourites for the title means we should be winning more games than losing, and that's all a supporter wants to see: their team win, it doesn't matter who they're playing.

I have to say I am, and I was unsure if I would renew. But, once the writing seemed like it was on the wall for Sullivan, I decided to do so, although I probably still would have renewed. I won't be going to all the home games. I will probably give the midweek games a miss, but people around me can take my seat.
You are spot on regarding VAR, but I hope we get straight back up.
I'm nowhere near as hard-core as many fans, but if you go to every single game or never go at all, your opinion as a West Ham fan is equally valid.

I live in Cheshire, so unfortunately can't afford the season ticket and everything that goes with it, trains etc., but I'm hoping to go to some away games. Stoke is just down the road, and I'm hoping to get my season ticket in a couple of years if I can take early retirement.
Always try and take a positive slant on things, it's supposed to be fun after all, and much easier on your mental health. ?

Good on you, Dabber, but that is gonna be a difficult trip, as it can take hours to get in from Essex by car or train, let alone from Cheshire. What about trying to get tickets to some of the away games up in your manor? I'm always in admiration of our away supporters.
You can always hear them loud and clear, no matter what the stadium.

Yeah, I'm totally in agreement. I too was unsure about renewing, but still made the decision to do so. Then the news of Sullivan, the troll, dropped, and I was all in. Being from North Yorkshire, getting to every game with my shift pattern is impossible, but I will 100% be going to as many as I can.
Only had the pleasure of watching West Ham away at Boro and Leeds coz they're 35 and 55 miles from me, but I am defo gonna try n get some away games in this time round, work permitting. ⚒️⚒️⚒️

Driving home from the game today, my overarching feeling once it sank in that we are going to be playing Lincoln, Bolton & Charlton, was - we will be back.
I will renew my season ticket, I will probably do even more away days next year. I go with my brother who is less likely to go to every game, so I will go with my three year old daughter who absolutely loves West Ham.
There can only be brighter days ahead. West Ham till I die.

Most of the people I have spoken to since the Newcastle game seem to have accepted our fate. I still hold out some hope.
Spurs have a truly wretched record at Stamford Bridge and have won 2 home games season, whilst Everton have been impressive on the road this year. I will be there on Sunday and if Spurs go behind and we take the lead it's on.
It would be the ultimate parting gift if Moyes were to keep us up. I was always Moyes in.
Whatever happens I will renew my season ticket and support and follow the club regardless.

I can see Everton giving Spurs a good game, and if our prem status is still a chance, then I believe Moyes will want to do all he can to help us. But I still think we will go down. I just hope it doesn't end up being on goal difference.

With the Chelsea result tonight, I am even more incensed at our performance on Sunday. I think Spurs will get at least a point against Everton. I have virtually reconciled myself to us going down, and I think, even if we were to stay, we will be limping along to another looming disaster.
