Background, there's been some noise around Mateta, which for WH is partially true, an unofficial talk said Palace would be interested in a deal for £35 m plus £5 m easy add ons, which ok looks fairly realistic, then a short time late Textor big Palace shareholder informed WH that it is unlikely, that he will be coming to East London, as he wants him at Lyon, his other club, who presently, have a transfer embargo on them, to which! He replied they won't have problems at seasons end, and if they do Athletico must have first refusal, as I know them well, so make of it what you will, but WH have already had problems, with Banzuzzi and. Kroupi, both players for double owned clubs, no smooth sailing here, WH need to get this properly ironed out if they want to pursue this player

So are we looking at another long painful Summer transfer window?

Can anyone please explain why the latest Iron Cast interview with manager Graham Potter been removed from the West Ham page.

I'm really glad that Luis Guilherme is going to be given an opportunity to prove himself with Potter because I think in the right hands he could be moulded to be a star for us. Every time I've seen this kid he's looked good. Frightening pace and skill. What's not to like. That £20m could turn out to be a wise investment

Great piece of work

08 Feb 2025 15:33:42
Thank you!

08 Feb 2025 16:44:14
Ok Die 4 we’ll done, I would agree on most, it iis not impossible but unlikely that Gomez comes to WH, and David is being prepped by Barcelona, we had our chance with him, but opted not to which I thought. Bonkers , KWP definitely, worth a good signing on fee, Tierney will not come to WH, unless his agreement with Celtic falls through, , Fabianski in my view too old now, Too early too comment on kudus and Paqueta, , Down the line Potter will have to bring in quite a few, Aguerd following my post 50/50 chance he actually returns to play, while Freddie Potts may make the squad, which needs thickening quite a lot, Irving is on 5k a week, so either way doesn’t matter

08 Feb 2025 19:11:56
Hi Joyful how about you doing the same piece with your thoughts, views etc

08 Feb 2025 20:00:40
Will do, bit busy at present, later in the week maybe die 4, is on the ball, it’s a matter of individual tastes and ideas

09 Feb 2025 12:55:03
The one thing you haven't mentioned is any of the promising youngster's we have and in my opinion we need to give time to Scarles, Orford and the 3 that are out on loan Potts in particular as well as Marshall and Earthy. With those in mind we may be able to reduced the number of signings

09 Feb 2025 12:56:11
Think that’s a really good article Die 4 and thank you for sharing. It’s certainly got me thinking about what I’d do. Personally I’d release one of the fringe goalkeepers and bring in a younger one. I’d also sell Alverez, he’s too temperamental, and replace him with another like Gomez, with a bit more mobility (I think we missed a trick with Connor Gallagher), is Adam Wharton beyond us?

The WHU away support at Chelsea on Monday was absolutely fantastic and didn't stop supporting the team throughout. I read today that the WHU board have lambasted that support due to one song that mentioned R**T B**S. They say the perpetrators will be found and banned.
This coming from a board that has made fortunes selling porn magazine's, porn videos and sex toys. They certainly know how to alienate themselves from the fantastic WHU supporters. ⚒️⚒️⚒️

Difficult one, Chelsea have made official complaint to FA and WH, so they must make enquiries

07 Feb 2025 16:47:51
How can the spuds get away Wrekin week out signing we are the Y*# army? Double standards.

{Ed001's Note - that is not meant as an insult, whereas Hammers fans were screaming homophobic abuse, not difficult to tell the difference.}

07 Feb 2025 18:10:31
At Stamford Bridge I wasn’t with the main bunch of supporters, but it was really loud and certainly plain in intent, these days the technology, even at night, can pick out the offenders, ( there where many ) and make a few targets for a ban, I know and understand, why some of our lads think they can get away with it, but unfortunately they can’t, and the club ‘“”” has to be seen, to do something about it “”” unavoidable, times have moved on, and some things that used to be ok, are no longer ok, that’s how it is, my advise for what it’s worth, think about your actions, beforehand, otherwise sooner or later you will get banned

When the stadium was reconfigured to make it "more like a football stadium" the potential football capacity increased to 68, 013 seats. Instead of doing away with concessions and poking kids and old people right at the back, why don't they just increase the capacity? There are thousands of tourist supporters at the games and games against the top teams are genuinely sold out. I am sure if the capacity was increased and tickets easier to get I am sure the support would increase and more than make up for what the lose on concessions. And the dwarf would get bragging right over the Spuds.

05 Feb 2025 17:49:11
I think it's to do with health and safety they don't have the license for that amount of people so there is more seats than they are allowed to sell.

06 Feb 2025 08:47:49
Hi Iron.Al You are correct the don't have the health and safety certs but they haven't even tried to increase the capacity since it went up to 62,500 which was in 2022. They were rumoured to be applying to go up to 66,000 but that was a couple of years ago.

{Ed001's Note - the biggest issue will be the same one that stopped Liverpool going bigger than they did. It will be about transport infrastructure in the area being able to handle the thousands of extra people.}

06 Feb 2025 12:11:56
Maybe Ed001 but that didn't stop them having 80,000 at the Olympics or 80,000 for the Foo Fighters concert amongst others!

{Ed001's Note - ok.}

Well we got beaten by Chelsea but let's be positive our stye of play has improved so much Once we get all our players fit we should be in in the higher half of the Prem.
Lets be honest our team struggled this year with the style we where playing and terrible to watch yes we lost at Chelsea but we played some good football and a style that works.
Once we get rid of the dead wood we can start looking to put pressure on the teams above us

Potter is a good. Manager and a good organiser no question, he will get the best out of what we have, and credit to him, BUT, we won’t be putting any pressure on anybody, until we have a quality bench, last night I was at Stamford bridge, looking at the Chelsea bench, then looking at ours that’s the difference for me, we have nobody to bring on, yes we will win a couple of games. And hopefully do enough to stay up, but that’s it for me, have you any idea how many changes will be needed at end of June? Have a look work it out then post back, regards to you Joyful

04 Feb 2025 17:39:12
Well Joyful we have 5 permanent players out of contract, Soler and Ferguson loans ending. That is 7 and then it depends on how many others are sold. So minimum of 10 I would say, unless of course there are youngsters that are deemed ready to step up.

04 Feb 2025 17:46:03
Don't know what you are on about Joyful, we brought on Danny Ings🙂

04 Feb 2025 18:02:41
You are correct, however one must look at various scenarios, Paqueta could suffer a total football ban, Kudus is looking to be sold, and Antonio, although there’s a years option, it’s unlikely to be taken up, as at present he’s a country mile from football, Potter I understand is not a fan of Mavrapanos, so he we be on the for sale list, Fulkrug wants to go back to Germany, and it’s likely he will get his wish. Teams like Hoffenheim and Mainz are interested, WH will be lucky to get back half of what they paid, but there you go, , As you know Coufal could have left on Friday for Fulham for £4 m, but there’s no replacement so no to that, which brings us to Guilherme, he will get his chance now, but could join the parade of those making the exit ///// So yes 7 on paper but potentially up to 13! Even 7 is a huge amount but it could go bonkers, because there are now grounds for it, Potter is making a deep study of the youngsters. Which is great, including those out on loan at present, but people like yourself with great knowledge know you cannot play more than a couple at a time, against seasoned quality professionals, so it could end up a busload, it’s very hard to do and very hard to gel, and organise, it’s half a squad, it can be done, but we will have to be signing players, as the bell rings to open the window

04 Feb 2025 18:13:01
Sadly I think the only way we have the capital to rebuild to that length is to sell Kudus for as much as we can and sell fringe players as well. Regardless of how much you say we have buying 10 players good enough to improve us we will still in my opinion need to sell Kudus and potentially Paqueta if he escapes a ban plus others. Think Kudus wants out anyway.

04 Feb 2025 18:48:53
Yes, Kudus will go almost for certain, and I forgot the lost soul in midfield Rodriguez, so 14 out potentially, can’t see anybody with contracts expiring being retained, So Macauley, will be hard at work, he needs to be, if we can agree a couple of pre contracts, will be of help, but Gomez will be hard, with Spurs willing to throw money at him, we however can look on the positive side, we can use Chelsea’s overloaded bombsquad, for three players, and they will certainly be all ears, Man untd are also overloaded, and again might be useful, free agents is a difficult area, except one, we must go for walker peters, and pay him a signing on fee, Spurs will be after him, but I don’t think he wants a return there, but it will be interesting to say the least

05 Feb 2025 06:57:29
How exciting to have Potter rebuild West Ham. I don’t know what all the gloom is about. It’s a big job yes that’s why these top managers are paid so much. It will take a 2/3 Windows for sure, but like most teams if Potter gets the core players correct (6/7) the other players are always transferable.
Build from the core out. Be positive

05 Feb 2025 11:18:02
What i like about potter so far is the fact he is using the younger players. Scarles and orford had a good few runs out. Guillerme looked decent in the cameo v chelsea too. Also got casey at CB who i would use over mavropanos now tbh.
Hopefully keeps giving these youngsters time between now and end of season.

05 Feb 2025 16:32:08
100% agree to Ham Egg and chips and ChrisB05

05 Feb 2025 17:05:59
A potter/mcauley rebuild could be very good but it should have started this window, and don't forget we have sullivan heavily involved again this Is a man that will spend months haggling, make ridiculous bids and even skupper deals so he can get his way.
