The money issues seem to be worse than I feared.

Kretensky was supposed to buy golds ahares and inject cash, just before season tickets were released and sold in no small part due to Sullivan being outed, but nothing happened.
Then we had a "bid" from Staveley around about the time we were not signing anyone and should have been; this has now all but disappeared.
If you ask me, Sullivan is still in full control of everything and just doesn't have a title, but these stupid games are his doing. He still turns up to the games, I bet at the end of the year if we fail to get promotion he will announce his return as some sort of messiah. He is just the sort of personality that would too.

It just sounds like more BS to me. And whilst I don't agree with Robbo that Sullivan is still in charge. I believe DK is just following the Sullivan BS model for transfers. The only benefits are prices obtained and incoming players not highlighted 3 weeks before they arrive.
I think and hope that matters outside football will gather pace to rid us of the posioned dwarf.
I'm not standing up for the grubby little individual but If this had been Sullivan running this window there would be civil war Kretinsky gets cut too much slack imo

I think it might be a case of 3 major shareholders playing off against each other, because all (if Stavely were to buy the Gold shares) want to be the main player, but none of them want responsibility for clearing the debt. This would explain the big sales and lack of money spent. I think very little will be spent this window, but in January they will take another view.
If we’re in a very strong position, why spend? If we have no hope of promotion or playoffs, why spend? If we’re hovering around the top 10, then I think significant purchases might be made. They are not thinking about the supporters, they are thinking like hard-headed business people. A dangerous game indeed, but if it comes off we could be in a very different position in 9 months time.

We had agreed a fee for Disasi, which was supposed to be 20m+. Can't remember if it was a loan with obligation based on promotion, so maybe we have 20m+ earmarked for a CB.

My mate is a QPR fan. He thinks this season could be the one he sees the Hoops get back to the top tier. This morning he said that West Ham is the team everyone has to beat and if we don't get promoted, we need shooting. After that master class last night, I find it difficult to fault his observation.
Today's fixture between West Brom and QPR should give us a clear indication of the standard of two of our main rivals. Fulham in the Carabao cup up next, and they aren't having a great start to their season. Then it's Millwall.

Ok, a win's a win and I'll take it every time, but there were clearly issues.
For me the biggest problem that we had was playing Kante ahead of Mukasa (Saturday's goal must have gone to his head). Playing them that way round nullifies the best of both. There were huge gaps in central midfield for Bolton to enjoy because Kante was too far up. Mukasa is not a crunching machine who breaks up play - that's more Kante's forte: Kante is not an inventive attacking midfielder who makes the right decisions - that's Mukasa's forte.
We looked so much better when Orford came on. Calm head, right place at the right time, looks up to make the right pass.
Opposition left wingers have caused us problems all season. Nino needs to work on that.
With those concerns out of the way. Well done the lads for coming through a tough game with all three points.

I'll say again... this was not a 'tough' game. Bolton Wanderers have now lost 4 games on the trot. It's the sort of game we should be coasting through if we are to get promoted. Our defence showed weakness in several areas. The Bolton attack was not especially good. It was average at best.

Your answer seems to agree with me! It wasn't approached as a tough game, which it wasn't, but the way we played made hard work of it. Not a tough game (where the opposition is expected to give us a hard time), but it developed into one that wasn't easy as a result of our performance. That's not a game with the expectation of being tough.

Pretty dominant first half. For me, we are giving the derby too long to get set up, with too many backwards and sideways passes. I'd like to see the sidemen taking players on instead of playing an easy pass back inside to Kilman or Mav.
Otherwise, not that bad, but I'd feel better with a couple more goals.

Agree. Huge money raised, but not much spent has eased a lot of pressure on the financial state of the club. The wages bill has dropped radically. Fernandes and Summerville were always going to go once we were demoted, but the club negotiated far better deals than we have in the past.
Deadweights/dressing room negatives have been shipped out (for this season at least).
Incoming players are a blend of experience and youth. Loan deals are a temporary fix, but are cheap.
I think all of the new players have good potential and our youngsters' performances have been highly encouraging so far.
In terms of the latest signings, the proof is in the pudding.
I continue to be optimistic.

Austbo has lots of energy and gets his crosses in well. He's reasonably pacy, though I'm not thoroughly convinced about him taking defenders on. There's a lack of genuine dribbling in the YouTube videos. He's got bags of confidence and a very good reputation in Norway.

I have posted before that I am optimistic about this season. We managed to keep some key players this window and also brought in several who have had seriously encouraging performances so far. Engels and Mukasa were competing for MoM yesterday. From the little we've seen, Austbo looks like a great buy and I have high hopes for Boiro.
At times our play has been good enough to show the rest of the league that we are a genuine contender for the title, but our defensive frailties still concern me.
We have conceded too many goals. The Keeganesque principle of scoring more than the opposition is great in theory, but nerve wracking in practice.
I think we are a good bet for automatic promotion, but I wouldn't put my house on it.
