WH are trying to get a figure from Coventry for Haji Wright, to be honest, didn’t think we would even attempt this, they could agree a figure then the player might not come, but he’s what we need, top scorer there in the Championship.
Bit more like it.
If we can get Sorba Thomas from Stoke, we will have the firepower and assists needed.
Coventry don’t want him walking on a free at season's end, which is in our favour. It’s doubtful but maybe keep your legs crossed

I'm not sure I understand this. We tried to buy Hadji Wright last season, and Fat Frank put a ridiculous figure like 200 million on him. They got promoted, we got relegated, and we now think he might want to come and join the relegation gravy train. Okay, we are a bigger club, but I don't see what is in it for him.

Hadji Wright wants a new contract, more money. He's earning 25 k a week at Coventry, plus a few bits. West Ham, to get him in, could offer 50 k plus bonuses.
He's 28, so could offer 3/4 years plus option. If we return to Premier, and he did well, that would increase by 50%.
He's Championship proven, that's the draw card, it's a long shot.

That silly fee was because they were chasing promotion, and that's how much it was worth to them.
If we offered him a contract like that, I can see why he would be tempted. Long term, much more money. If we get promoted next season, it goes up again and he gets his shot in the prem, or he could have a good season in the prem and leave on a free to another club in the summer. He could also flop in a struggling side and end up back in the Championship on a Championship wage.
So it might not be completely out of the question.

Alvarez Real Sociedad come in with an unusual offer: 8 m euro upfront, 7 m euro to be paid over three years, no big addons as such but one or two small addons, which could add another million euros.
WH may be tempted by this, getting shot of his wages same time.
Almost coincidentally, Ajax have made a buy offer, which comes to slightly less. The Dutch side have restricted access to funds, and are underfunded full stop.
The Spanish offer is better at present

Disasi, let’s be clear about this. A month ago WH agreed a fee with Chelsea £20 m plus 5 m addons if the player wished to return to WH.
WH would pay Disasi 80 k a week, at Chelsea he’s on 77.5 k loan, so no loss.
Contract terms with player to be determined. So far the player has not given the ok to come back in the Championship; he said he would come back in the Premiership.
It was left there.
WH have heard nothing since.
What I don’t understand at all is WH have been offered Tomori from Milan for £15 m, class Cb, same wages. He’s 28. If Disasi, doesn’t want to come, try Tomori. He only say no.

Last Saturday I posted about Matteo Cancelleri of Lazio winger in last year of contract.
WH in talks with his agent, not exactly the top target but we seem to be aiming low.
There maybe a tie up with Fulkrug deal? We shall see?
Thing here is he plays both sides, but predominantly right side, we need left side.

So far WH have not bough anybody full stop all the right things where done in the beginning. Sold the two most expensive players for money that was unthinkable if Sullivan was there, then the parachute money followed, great so far
Is anybody else leaving, window has 5 weeks to run so impossible to say
The squad that remains were relegated, now three of the best players have left including Disasi
I'm a realist, and to start the season with what we have will in my own opinion not get us to where we want to be
WH are looking in general at freebies, low.cost players, older people at the end of their time, journeymen if you like, I just don't get it
We need firepower, creativity. and a solid back line, the players being looked at. This week are not going to do that
After those sales we should be showing a little ambition, a proven striker, atms Cb 4/5 players needed players that can take us back up, and stay with us in the premiership
IF WH don't pull their finger out, and get some decent players in, there may be some shocks and suprises in store Some may be unpleasant

I actually think they were a little lucky with those sales. Tottenham were going to pay whatever to make an impression in the market, and the Saudi side coming in at the last minute saved a cheap sale to Roma.
Ultimately though, I care about who's on the pitch for us. Wouldn't you think a new regime (if indeed it is - Sullivan is still the major shareholder) would want to show they mean business and give the fans something to get behind?
These are high-end business people; they plan for all scenarios.
They will know what we needed before even last season's end, but... nothing.

Many sides want to be in the Premier. As we are about to find out, competition will be there, alright, no good kicking yourselves afterwards.
If we don't get out first time, the whole finance structure of WH will need to be changed massively. It may just have dawned on the powers that be that this is the case.

I think it was the Charity Shield. I was only a kid, but there was controversy, as they both took their tops off and it was seen as highly offensive. Can get players to keep their shirts on these days.

Contrary to others, I do not believe WH will run away with anything. WH are 4/6 to gain promotion, think that’s a bit rich
Our youth will not fill in gaps, maybe here and there, but on the whole, just not good enough, eg Marshall, not up to it
The remnant of WH squad have experience, that will be a factor as the season rolls on
This is a mad league, 12/14 midweek games, no recovery time, virtually no training time
No negativity, just reality.

Totally agree, Robbo. Just check out other sites and a lot, and I mean a lot, if fans are getting very frustrated with how things are going.
We are nowhere near ready for the new season, and to top it all, we have major competitors in the first few games, Wrexham, Burnley derby, and we need players in key positions.
Maybe Nuno has seen something we haven't.
If that's the case, I'm worried for our great club's future.
Has Taty played a pre-season friendly yet? If not, then who are we starting up front with? Is Fulkrug the answer? I hope not.

This is presently how I see WH major problem.
Over the last few seasons the promoted teams have scored 75/90 goals.
Let’s make the assumption, and it’s a big one that Bowen and Taty stay on.
How many can they score between them? 40? Maybe 50, and I don’t see that many, so where are the goals coming from?
WH need a proven championship striker like Vipotnik.
We must bring in a striker, forget Pablo, he couldn’t strike a match.
I’m assuming we strengthen the defence and midfield. I think this is doable, but up front, we are lacking, fie power.

As I've said on other posts, it's not just the goal scoring, it's the creating of the chances in the first place. We have no pace, and no one that can do a trick or pick a pass to unlock a defense this year. There will be a lot more onus on us to attack, as we will be seen as a scalp.
Other teams will be happy to low block us. I'd say we need a couple of wingers that can cross the ball, and a big forward that's good in the air to get on the end of it.

We've always seemed to struggle to recruit in the striker department. They've got to get this absolutely right if they want promotion. Go and get the best that the Championship offers, maybe try and lure prem players that are not getting as much game time as they would like, but would rip it up in the Championship. ?

There were a couple of stories that there was interest in Pablo that quickly evaporated.
What on earth would Haji Wright come to WH for? His intention at present is to leave Coventry as a free agent at season's end. To buy him now would cost £15 m /20 m. Not that that's bad, it's good, but WH are barrel scraping, those kind of figures are not in the brief.
They simply have not gripped reality, that strikers are expensive but can get you out of this league. So far, I've been surprised by WH lack of ambition, so have many others.

West Ham have made a profit of 60 m on two players, fantastic, parachute money is in £45 m. All monies in cash, yes West Ham remain in debt like the other 91 members of the Football League, but in reality the near debt now is 45 m and overall debt about 90 m.
A return to the Premier League would eradicate that, plus all expenses in a season, but unless something is done in the market we aren't going back next season.
Looking at players like the forward from Metz is madness, 4 goals in 25 matches! West Ham need Championship-proven quality, penny pinching will see us remain in this league, you only get what you pay for, excepting Pablo, I am shocked to be honest at some of the crap we are being associated with.
West Ham need to have a meeting, and decide which way they want to go. Carry on with a very mediocre squad and stay in the Championship, or pull their finger out, get in decent players and get promoted. There are two paths, we are going nowhere at present.

Re Pablo. As posted before, I played in the Conference League for years, and managed that club for two seasons. I can only tell you what I see. This player would not make that team, or its second team either.

Nuno's three-year deal expires September 28. If he leaves, say March 27, he will be entitled to 6 months compensation. First year doesn’t count. Currently on 2.25 m year, half his 4.5 m previous. I’ve posted reg compensation before, but promotion, well, looks not on at present.
