Everyone saying that we are not close to PSR, not worked it out myself but apparently, over the last 5 years after player sales our spend is close to 300mil. And that is just to have the oldest and slowest squad in the premiership. What we could have done with that sort of money if we had a manager who knew what he was doing and people who knew the right sort of players to buy.

Morning Hammer-D, his results have been crap no disputing that but I just believe that you have to caveat the fact that some of the players he’s acquired aren’t up to scratch and others that are better quality (Kudus/Pacqueta) haven’t performed. He also didn’t have Bowen fit for a while and Fulkrug and Summerville injured in his first game. All I believe is that he should be judged on what he does after this summers transfer window as was Nuno at Forest. Also with this owner we are unlikely to attract much better unfortunately. In a perfect World I’d like new owners and Thomas Frank but until Sullivan sells we are going to have to deal with the hand we’ve been given. Irrespective COYI

Can you honestly say you are satisfied with the team selections, tactics employed, substitutions made, and demeanour/comments made by Potter since his arrival? I totally agree with your comment about Thomas Frank, but surely that confirms you believe Potter is out of his depth because they are poles apart in footballing styles?

Tinlegs with the greatest respect how is saying that somebody deserves a chance with their own choice of players clutching at straws? What would Thomas Frank do differently with that group of players? We all have oppinions who we want as manager. Personally I was and am ok with Potter. Nothing earth shattering about him but I felt and still do feel with different players he could build for the future. If you were the Manager how would you account for the mistake that Areola made leading to the opening goal yesterday? Add to that the disinterest of Kudus and Todibo, the off field problems of Pacqueta, the injuries of Summerville and Fulkrug, the poor purchases of Rodrigues and Soler adding already to the paceless midfield of Soucek, JWP and Alvarez. Non of that is clutching at straws buddy ….

Hi Dabber, like him or not I think we are all resigned to the fact Potter will at least get his window. I do feel it’s a case of do two wrongs make a right. Nobody wants to keep changing their manager all the time but it’s a case of do I think he is really up to it. Like Tin says I think he is out of his depth and has been found out. Not in a fraudulent way. The guy seems a decent fella but just don’t think he knows how to get an entertaining tune out of any squad. Again happy to be proved wrong. It was actually nice last week not to come on here moaning it was a good win although with some caveats. Contrary to what some on here may think ( I don’t include you in that group) I, and am sure the others who are not keen on Potter, don’t look forward to us losing or putting in an anemic drab performance most weeks so we can come on here and whinge we want to see us win and entertain.so I suppose it has got to the stage just to leave our comments each week and make feelings known.
You are right regarding Summerville and Bowen. Fulkrug was missing for most of the first half of the season but Summerville was a massive loss. If he manages to get a few decent players in great and can get us playing on the front foot I for one will be more than happy. My reasoning for saying thanks and goodbye now is because I think you have a better chance of getting a decent manager at seasons end rather than Christmas. We all have to face facts if he doesn’t turn it around by the start of next season we will be in serious trouble especially with all the players, that people want to leave . Kudus and Paq have been poor this season but are still far more creative than anyone we are likely to attract.
You are spot on regarding Sullivan being the root of all our problems but that is not as easy as just getting in a new chairman they have to be the right people not just have big pockets….
Thank god there is only one more week left of this awful season ?

Hammer D you are so right, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be proved wrong about Potter. That would mean we are playing nice football and top part of the table. As you said, no one wants to keep coming on here moaning, but what else are we to do when we have to put up with Potterball, Jesus I thought DM’s football was turgid but that was entertaining compared to what we have been served up lately. In all my many years watching football I have never seen so many sideways and backwards passing purely for possession sake.

Normal service resumes. Please tell Potter that just because a team selection and formation beats a team concentrating on a cup final, doesn't mean it will work against an attacking team who are desperate to finish in CL spots. How many more losses is he allowed before we get shot of him? I might be wrong and I sincerely hope I am, but I don't see that there will be any better football or results regardless of who he signs next season. I renewed early as I want to move further down, but now wish I didn't. I think renewal will be only be about 60% due to rubbish football, rubbish manager and morons in charge of the club. I Know I am not the only one who can see next season has got relegation written all over it unless the board accepts they have again made a mistake.

I agree Gerry that system and formation whoever we sign just doesn't work anymore slow boring possession with no attacking guile or creativity in midfield we only really looked like scoring in the last 10 mins before that we were awful

I can’t comment on the game again today, as I gave up my ticket to a mate and didn’t realise it was on sky! Sounds like mixed reviews, sounds like they played well once Bowen scored. Sounds like Guilherme did well in his 10 minute cameo which is promising. One of my basic criticisms from very early on was a complete lack of consistency and that stands. I can’t see them getting rid of Potter at the end of the season so have to hope he can pull a few rabbits out the hat in the transfer window, but find it difficult to trust someone that thinks it is a good idea to start with JWP, Guido, and Soucek plus 5 defenders. I know it worked last week but as you say the manager needs to adjust the team to the way the opposition play. I probably will renew once more, I haven’t as yet but more in hope than expectation.

The game was dictated by who scored first and it was nearly us. Areola making that stuuuupid mistake put us on the back foot and the formation then looks poor. Individual errors have cost us dearly in recent months. Potter also gets my sympathy because the squad on the whole is a crock of s**t only Bowen and AWB can say they’ve earned their money this season

Dabbler, even the most unknowledgeable people know you have to change the formation and sometimes the team depending on who you are playing. Especially against a very quick team who hit you on the break. We are near the bottom on goals scored and chances created for a reason.

We have already got an incoming who was signed last year Mohamadou Kante, and we have paid a down payment on Todibo. How Kante will shape up who knows, gamble like we will on a few youngsters I suspect.

They have said we need to sell before we buy and we haven't sold anyone, so not sure what you expect. This is the clubs mantra which I doubt will change until someone gets sold by the club, then Potter will get 75% of that. Even though it was disputed on here last time I posted it, again I have read that we will post a loss of 100m in this years accounts.

With 8 teams qualifying for Europe it was always going to be hard to attract players. Add that to who the manager is and Sullivan what have we got to offer? All we can offer is playing in front of a massive crowd who create no atmosphere whatsoever, and before you blame the ground it is the football that’s served up, anyone who witnessed the atmosphere against Sevilla will tell you the ground was rocking. The football and too many tourists is why the place is like a morgue. Not sure how we change it without exciting football and getting rid of the tourists. Friend of mine is a season ticket holder at the spuds and he said their place was like a morgue when they were losing every week.

You are only speculating that Potter didn't say he wanted a small squad, Pep has come out and said the same. It is very difficult trying to keep players happy when you don't have Europe for some to get games. I am the same as you, have no idea if it is what Potter wants or it is a Sully wish, who knows certainly not you or I.
