Oh my god, Nuno is staying. No entertaining football next season then. We will be the big scalp in the championship and teams will set up not to lose against us. That will be a great watch, low block v low block.

Sully had it right not wanting to appoint Potter, he got it right this time not wanting Nuno to stay but somehow over ruled. How can you have a manger that upsets players and has no interest in training. WTH.

Don't believe the BS. Players who dislike him?
Kilman, JWP, Wilson? Or just spin from the dwarf?

Somebody putting it around, that Nuno doesn’t train, doesn’t talk to anybody. This is untrue. Doesn’t give half time talks, untrue.

I’m not saying he’s the best thing since sliced bread, he isn’t, but there’s no superstar managers that want to come to West Ham.

We need to get real, West Ham have a very tough job to get back to the top league.

First 6/8 games will tell the story, let’s see what team is put together. Let’s just wait until the end of next month. By then we will have an idea.
If Nuno fails, he will be gone double quick.

I understand what you are saying, but they will be reluctant to sack him, as now West Ham have to pay him compo. If they had got rid now, it costs nothing. Yet another season of safety first football, how wonderful. We need a team playing with a bit of flair, but we have had that now. Sorry for me, Nuno is a Nono.

28 May 2026 09:24:15
The flair also depends on the players we have. You can’t turn Soucek into Trevor Brooking. Yes, agreed, Nuno didn’t deserve to keep his job, and most of us would rather see a more attacking style of football. But with the exception of Bellamy, none of the names mentioned offer even the possibility of that.
But I think the thing is, whilst we can agree he did a poor job overall, it wasn’t all bad, and just reading fake stories about him not training or not talking to the team at half time is just garbage, because if it was the case you would have heard it from the majority of players, who would have spoken out about it.

I’m sure many players will leave because they didn't get on with him, that’s life, and many will leave because they think it hampers their career playing in the championship. Hopefully a few will stay and get some new blood in who are young and hungry.

Therein lies the problem, Hammer. Whilst you keep players like Soucek, who simply cannot play football, we are tied to a boring football style, because they can't do anything else. The few flair players we do have, Summerville, Fernandes, etc., will be off. This was a chance to dump the negative, anti-football manager and players and begin a new one.

If we do get promoted, what style are we going to play in the Prem? The same boring, negative way that got us relegated in the first place. I would happily stay down a couple of seasons if it meant playing exciting football again. Under this board, really only Bilic, for one season, has produced anything near good football; the rest has been dross.

Soucek was maybe a bad example to choose, maybe I could have said Potts.
It’s weird, Robbo, but I sort of totally agree with you. But don’t in some respects.
There’s too much happening too soon after the relegation. There are a lot of stories flying around, you can’t tell what is genuine and what is not. In the end, people like yourself who said he, Nuno, needs to go were right.
Is it the board playing good cop bad cop. Almost suggesting DK is now calling the shots to appease the fan base. And if he (DK) does want Nuno, does he also really want the DOF which has also been suggested. Because it has been shown at Forest that he can’t work with one and he would almost sabotage it.
A DOF is a must, and would hopefully help with the situation of employing new managers. Although at other clubs the board appoint the DOF depending on their style, we could end up with a DOF whose remit is to just win games. Who dictates that we want entertaining attacking football? I do, but do the powers that be?
As usual, it’s a complete mess.

The ideal would be get a manager to get us promotion and maybe beyond, or get us promoted and look for someone to take us to the next level.
Nuno overall did badly and deserves to go, but would I prefer to keep him as opposed to the 4 usual names banded about. Personally I would. I also feel Thomas Frank would be the same as well. I’d be prepared to give him a try, but feel the football would be the same very methodical 3-5-3 slow system that most on here are totally against, so we would be back at square one. I feel until the board go including DK and get some decent people in we are not going to go anywhere. It will be interesting to see if DK actually puts some money in to help with the club's debts or will he just buy a larger share-holding. Buying more shares isn’t really helping us at all, although it may lessen Sully's power.

I am whtid, what are you on about? There is no one out there better than Nuno. He already knows the youth players, so he's got a head start on anyone else. Let's just leave them to it.

Nuno is awful. He proved it last year. He should be sacked for the signing of Pablo on its own, 20 million (for his mate's son) who is Conference level. That's without factoring in it's an entertainment business, and he plays completely boring football which isn't even effective.

Like I said, id rather not get promoted and actually wipe the slate clean and try something different. What's even worse, if we do go up next year, we will be subjected to it for even longer.

28 May 2026 22:18:14
Stevie 66, no one better than Nuno? Have you got a very strange sense of humour, or have you been smoking the funny stuff? Nuno has a paltry 29% win rate, Potter 24%, and Lopetegui had a win rate of over 31%. I sincerely hope I am wrong, and he does well, but I very much doubt it.

Driving home for 2 hours from games each week, after being bored to death, is no fun, I can tell you. I want to be entertained, not watch low block football; may as well have stuck with DM.

What drives me nuts with these types of posts is - not one suggestion that fits a championship narrative.

As far as I can see I am the only one who has made a transfer suggestion, albeit speculative, but not unreasonable. I'd throw Michael Cooper into that list.

If Nuno went I wouldn't be downbeat, now he is staying I am not downbeat. I would have been ok with Scott Parker if he was appointed.

What are you going to do? Complain all season. As far as I can see, certainly within the stadium is that the fans support the club with everything, regardless of manager. The fans have been incredibly supportive since Christmas, incredibly supportive. Even on the last day, knowing we were going - the fans kept singing.

14.) 29 May 2026
29 May 2026 15:30:05
I do generally agree with your post, IG, especially the last paragraph. Nuno should have been sacked, but it is the same old story. This board have no clue regarding replacing a negative manager with someone attacking. So I personally can't see the point in replacing Nuno with Parker, Dyche, or Cooper. If there was someone in the frame who was attacking and dynamic, I would be up for it.
The other thing is, whilst the football wasn't great, since the Sunderland home game there has generally been a vast improvement, and in 95 % of the home matches the fans have been behind the manager and players.

It was a big improvement on what I saw under Potter, Loppy and Moyes, although he managed to get us relegated.
The one exception was when the players did their depressing lap of honour after we had been confirmed relegated. Where I sit, there was a lot of hostility towards the players from a small, but very vocal minority who rushed the few rows to the front to remonstrate with the players, and they seemed to be picking on Tatty and Fernandez, which was totally out of order as they were 2 of our best players and worked their socks off.

15.) 29 May 2026
29 May 2026 16:13:36
I sit within view of you, Hammer-D, and I saw that.

I wonder what the atmosphere will be like next season, where the expectation is that we win. I always found the atmosphere best when we were beating teams we weren't expected to. Will it be bouncing when we are three up against, say, Swansea?

16.) 29 May 2026
29 May 2026 16:48:25
For me, the bouncing will solely depend on how we are doing, especially as the season gets well underway.

We can expect big crowds to start with, maybe the biggest in that division ever.

However, if the enthusiasm is not met with both the effort and results, you can expect the biggest crowds to melt away, and it's a huge stadium without people.

Yeah it's difficult to know how it's gonna pan out. I suppose we will soon find out. I will renew, and whilst I may give many of the midweek games (of which there are a few) a miss due to travelling difficulties, I will still get behind the boys and hope for the best. ?

Keep the faith, guys. It's going to be a long summer, so no point anybody contemplating abject misery until the season's underway. Whatever happens, surely it's better to get behind the manager and players, old and new.
