I think Celtic have already refused 25 million from Premiership side Forest. I know nothing about negotiating, but I think I now understand why we haven't managed to buy anyone yet. Absolutely ridiculous. I did hear on another site that we were very close on cost, maybe not?

WH, not close enough. Celtic will probably take the money if we match their price, but we need to push the boat out or move on, one or the other. Pay up or pass on the player, end of story.

I think the 25m was what they rejected in January, if reports are to be believed.

Apparently we bid 18m for Engels and will be returning with another bid. Maybe we can meet in the middle, 21-22m.

25m is expensive imo; probably better available for that kind of money, but I suppose the problem is getting them in the Championship.



Also seems to get mixed reviews from Celtic fans.

Can't be much in it between Scottish Prem and Championship?

That's my worry, IronGeez. I think Celtic and Rangers squads probably get in the play-offs. But overall the Championship is a lot more competitive.

So, 20-25m, same as what Hackney went for, seems a lot. Engels could turn out an average Championship midfielder for that kind of money. I'd be expecting him to have the potential to step into the prem.
