My opinion for what it’s worth, stop the pursuit of Engels. It’s getting embarrassing, how many more tries? Move on, plenty of other fish in the sea.

Celtic couldn’t care less, the player doesn’t appear that fussed, we may have agreed terms with him ages ago but it’s meaningless.

Whilst there’s still three weeks before window shuts, find other people who want to come. End of.

I have read or heard on other sites that are usually quite reliable that this is virtually a done deal, and that they are waiting to get through to the Champions League. Is that the thing that is holding it up?
They seem to suggest this potential signing is all about Koppen, as this is his marquee signing.

His reputation is on the line.
Most seem to suggest he is a decent player, but most say Jordan James would be a better choice. For what it’s worth, I don’t have much of an opinion, because I haven’t seen them play or know much about them.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a done deal in that respect. The player can change his mind, so can Celtic, or a premier club comes in. 27th August is the date set for agreement; by then, all viable alternatives are gone.

If you have an agreement in writing, fair enough; other than that, it's not the type of business I like.

I'm sure there'll be a finite point in which we say enough is enough and move on, obtaining an alternative option. This transfer window and the deals being worked on feel a million miles away from those of Sullivan, Brady and TS. As for preference, I'm with Hammer-D, I don't know enough about either Engels or James to make a decision, to be honest.

Engels is a technically better player, but James is more robust and gets forward more. They are different players, it depends what you're looking for. West Ham are looking to replace Fernandes at a cheaper price.

Question is, do we need that type of player in the Championship? Some say yes, some say no, it is an expensive commodity at this level.

Engels can play in several positions as well, to be fair: RW, AM, DM, box-to-box.

I did say a few weeks ago that Celtic are under no pressure to sell, and probably would not until after the CL qualifiers, unless a replacement has been sourced after what happened last year.




My view is, I think Engels is a good player who would be a good signing, but it cannot be left forever, as we don't want to be making panic buys if this transfer falls through.
