Guys, I totally understand the frustration, but there must be an underlying reason why the purchases aren't being made. My guess is that it's either the situation with the Gold shares, or the having to remove the leaches from the squad before additional funds and squad places are filled. I'm sure there is very little sleep being got by the top table at the moment.

No, mate, not really. The wages of the limpets need to be removed for sure, but the transfer fees won't boil down to much. Fulkrug is potentially valueless, Alvarez and Todibo would be deposits on fees, or loan monies, so whilst there's a lot of work to get rid of them, none of these players are going to provide funding.

West Ham have had a huge amount of cash payments come in: £85 m plus £60 m plus £45 m parachute money equals 190 m, there's plenty of liquidity. Still in debt, but not that much.

Yes, we need players, yes, we need them in quickly, yes, we have received money from Fernandes and money from Summerville and money in parachute payments, but, whilst you post name after name that we are linked with, you constantly post it in such a negative fashion.



Are we ready for the Championship opener, ready enough to be competitive, yes. Ready enough to win the league, no, we need players in. Is the window shut? No. Is there still time to strengthen? Yes.

Try and be a bit more positive, because the info you post is interesting to read, you're just soooooo negative.

Hi Joyful, I was thinking more in terms of the leeches taking up squad places. If we can't move them on, they're going to be given squad numbers and expected to be available to play. Todibo, for example, if he doesn't move, we are unlikely to purchase Harry Soutar, etc., just to have one of them leech wages.

Sadly, we have leeches in a number of positions: Todibo, Fulkrug, Alvarez, Cornet, and until they're moved on, surely that delays buying in to replace them, just in case we fail to move them on? I might be clutching at straws.

I understand what you're saying. I would forget Cornet, he's on lower money now, 32 k a week, he may be useful now and again. There's been no interest in him whatsoever up till now. If West Ham were overpopulated with players, they would probably pay him off. If an offer comes in, likely it will be accepted.

Looks like Alvarez and Todibo will be gone in this window.

Fulkrug is the player for whom I do not understand West Ham's stance.

He wants to leave, walk away from 2 years' money. On a free he's valueless. Rip up his contract, let him go, save between 5.5 and 8 m in wages depending on which division we are in. It's a big write down on value, but he was bought wrong in the first place. Clear the decks, goodbye.

DIE 4, no mate, I'm a realist, I'm not a pessimist nor an optimist, history has taught me to be real, I tell it how I see it.

For me it's straightforward. West Ham get in the necessary players for the correct positions needed, we have a good chance of promotion.

If we don't, we won't get promoted. That's it. Where is that doom and gloom?

What I was mentioning on here six weeks back was the same. Now West Ham have the cash to fill those positions, there's not much in the way of excuses.



Sure they will be picky, and try to get the best value they can. Correct, if they can get a couple of free agents etc, good work, the club is still in debt.

But if we don't get promoted first time around, a complete financial restructuring has to take place. West Ham are structured to be in the Premier League, this relegation has brought West Ham to face a ton of problems. That wouldn't have taken place in the top league.

That's not doom and gloom, no glass half full. Just reality.

I think you can be a realist and still have pessimistic or optimistic leanings. You seem like a really good bloke, Joyful, and I always welcome your posts on the players we're looking at, as it gives me someone to google. In fact, I constantly drop in on here to see who you've named dropped. You do seem to head up a bit of a Gloom Platoon, though, that can't wait to read negativity into situations that are not unique to WHUFC. Die 4 summed up the current situation perfectly, no need for me to repeat it.

The only time to be negative, imo, is when things are actually s***, not when people predict they will be s***. Plenty of time for players to come in, new owners and investors, and the loyalty of the Captain... lots to be excited about and look forward to. If the reality ends up being different, so be it, but nobody wants to look into the crystal ball and be told of their impending doom all the time. Come on, chill out, Gloom Platoon. ?
