To be honest, I’m getting a little concerned about the quality or maybe the lack of it, in some of the players we are being connected with.

Whilst we are in the Championship, we aspire to get back to the Premiership asap, bringing in some of the players that are being sourced by WH, not only may it not get us back, but even if we do, they won’t make the next level up.



For me this is pointless. Could turn out to be painful. We need quality to get us back into a force again.

But that is the conundrum. If someone is Premier League quality, then why would they want to play in the Championship, and it is very difficult to buy players that are Championship level this year but will move on to Premier League next.


What did Ipswich do last year, keep most of their previous Premier League squad, or were there wholesale changes? Whatever they did, it worked for them, even if their new season in the Championship didn't start too well.

The problem is, even if we keep everyone bar Summerville, who will definitely go, we then have a squad that was lacking in pace and creativity, can't defend and can't score. That needs to be addressed, and quickly.

If we start badly, promotion is all the more difficult. There's only 4 weeks to kick off in the Carabao Cup, and there are so many things that need sorting.

Agreed, Robbo, a heck of a lot of work still to be done, and still a lot of "overpaid deadweight" to get rid of, as well as rebuilding an entire squad ready for a long, hard season ahead.

Cogs maybe turning, but they are turning very slowly.

imo, I think the club needs to be clever with the loans we can get in. I think this would really help us this season.

I agree the loan market is massive for us this season. We could hopefully get a couple of PL-quality younger players that want game time from some of the big boys.

Why on earth do we need to rebuild an entire squad? As it stands today, we have one of, if not the best, squads in the Championship?

TBH Lee, I'm struggling to see the reason too. Admittedly, our 2 most creative players will have left. We need a centre back, probably a right back, but we have Scarles. We need maybe 2 forwards, but I think a lot of the slack can be taken up by the youth team.
I don't know much about Championship football.

I know there are more matches. I know we need some creativity, but we aren't gonna get another player of Fernandez's quality who is prepared to play in the Championship.
Obviously, if a lot of players say they are off and we don't keep them to their contracts, then we do need a few more.

Hammer mate, do you think slack will be taken up by youth team? If WH approach this season thinking that..... then our competition will be rubbing their hands with glee.

If we played our youth side, in my view, we will get swamped.

I will stick to my point of view.

A couple here and there, yes, but not too many at once, unfortunately we do not have the youth of yesteryear. I personally think that will play out soon enough.

Mate, I didn't say that we should flood the team with youth players, or if that's how it reads, it wasn't meant like that. I meant, like you said, a few here and there. Like Mayers early or Ford, etc, could play or make up some of the bench.

I think unless we start bringing players in soon to give Nuno a decent pre season, we could be out of our depth this year.

This is the hardest league in the world to get promoted from because they all want the glamour and cash that the Premier League provides.



Some clubs are miles ahead of us already.

And I reckon Nuno is thinking he will be starting with the majority of players we had last season, hence why no movement in transfer market.
