Mavrapanos, back to Arsenal? Maybe, Gunners, will need to pay a good figure, however our Greek defender has been told he wouldn’t be first choice, maybe he doesn’t want to be a bench warmer, we shall see?

Targett would be ok, but I really would like Scarles to get decent play time this year to aid his development, and I hope we aren't signing 30 year old that are going to block young uns getting game time.

I really can't see Arsenal going for Mavro, unless they think he will just be a cheap back up.

I'm not sure if he counts as home grown as well because he was a young player there, but can't see him troubling the 1st team much. I mean he was pretty average for us most of the time he was here, save a handful of games.

Over the 46 league games alone, Scarles and others will get plenty of game time, 12 midweek matches, let alone cup games. There's no youngster that won't get a game at some stage, whether by trial or injuries.
Anybody that thinks WH, with a newly assembled team, is going to run away with this league, needs to take seconds in my opinion.



There are a few teams that, to my understanding, are going to be ready to roll long before mid August, and WH at present are not one of them.

I hear what you're saying, Joyful, and you called it at the start of last season so we should heed your warning. What I would say is that, for me, it depends on who we manage to retain. Bowen, Taty, Souchek, Mav, KWP, Magassa, Potts, Scarles, Hermandsen are all capable of performing very, very well in the Championship.

With Sully now gone, let's hope the club is just being very thorough and industrious behind the scenes with their preparation.

It's very difficult to say who's coming and going. That is the whole problem in a nutshell.

Whilst WH are waiting for World Cup participants to return and make their final decision, other clubs are busy and moving on, and their preparations are well in front of us.

We have many midfielders, but none are creative. That's just the start. Taty, Bowen, Mavros just cannot establish. Whether they are nailed on to stay, if they want to leave, just leave, and that's it.

We also have the reluctant limpets, who we must try and offload.

If Koppen can get rid of those, he will be my player of the year!


It's no one's fault, it's a collection of circumstances. The Sullivan fiasco didn't help either, but none of these things are plus points.

With luck and a fair wind, I hope we get back up, with the new 3/8 position playoffs there's an extra opportunity.

I know that Nuno is frustrated, not because he's worried about the Championship, he just cannot get people signed up because of the delays, and indecision he's getting from current players. That's the truth, sorry long post.

The problem is the likes of Taty, Mavro, AWB might not necessarily be other clubs' top targets, so these may take time to shift, this could go right down to the last day of the window, but the fact remains with only 4 weeks to kick off we have sold one player, that is all.



Soucek is injured and doesn't know when he will be back, Dabber, that's the only reason he committed to us, because he can't be sold because of injury, another that will just draw a wage without contributing.

Souchek is a matter of opinion and in mine I think he would have stayed anyway, but we'll never truly know. I'm actually now looking forward to the new season and new era without BS. I think it's a great opportunity to rebuild and come back better and stronger. I appreciate other clubs might be stealing a march on us, but the fact remains the World Cup has got in the way, and maybe has affected us a little more than others, because of players involved that we're looking to sell: Diuof, Summerville, AWB.

At least Sullivan's barrow boy wheeling and dealing shouldn't be an issue this time. I liked the way the club dealt with the Fernandes sale, although I was gutted to see that young man go. He's going to be a great player. After the low of relegation, I'm trying to stay positive and upbeat.

I think this season will be very difficult, with 6 or 7 clubs better equipped for the Championship at this time. That might change, but I'm not that hopeful. It's all been the same BS as it was under Sullivan, linked with 2000 players that we never sign, or were never going to sign anyway.

Just want to reiterate, the fact that Nuno is somewhat hamstrung because of indecision, not his or WH, but players that are currently away, and a couple that may be trying to manufacture a move away from WH.
This has to come to a finale, but quite how you do it is another story.



Only way for me is to give a cut off date, after which WH will turn away any offers, irregardless of what, whom, immaterial.

Leaves them available to play, and leave in January if they wish.

All we can go on is what has been done up to now. One really good player was sold, but sold for a decent price, not just given away like would have been the case under Sullivan. You are always gonna get stories linking clubs with players, it is not something the chairman is doing, unlike under Sullivan. And a lot of these stories could be coming from Sully loyalists or agents loyal to Sully. Agents, by nature, only have their own self-interest, be that Salthouse or Menendez.

If we don't see a mass exodus, I don't see much of a problem. We do need to replace Fernandez; it's doubtful they will be anywhere near as good, and we do need some centre backs and some forwards, but there is still time. When the season ended for me, it was all doom and gloom until the news that Sully's influence is significantly lessened. Now, I feel pretty positive and am actually looking forward to the new season under the new regime.

6 or 7 teams look more equipped. I've read some crap in my time, but that takes the biscuit as of July 12th. WHUFC has only lost one player, maybe 2 if you want to include a loan signing that was Disasi. If the league started next week, the current squad would be by far the best in the division.

Biggest problem with modern day football is the lack of patience from certain supporters. Players will join, and a few will leave. But there won't be anything remotely resembling a fire sale.

Patience? You mean patience like keeping Potter for a whole transfer window he never should have had? Like keeping negative Nuno whilst Spurs and Forest were reacting and making changes before it was too late? Or do you mean chucking away points in early season games because, even though most sensible people could see no pre-season, with new signings only arriving after the big kick, that was going to be detrimental, whilst the whole let's-wait-and-see scenario was being played out? Unfortunately, patience has led to relegation and the situation we are now in, which we are currently replicating.

I've already said on other posts where we are lacking, but the long and short of it is we are the big scalp in this league, so teams will employ low blocks.

At the moment we don't have any players that can unlock a defence; in fact, our midfield currently consists of players that aren't mobile and don't know how to pass or shoot. We have a defence that can't defend set pieces, and a lot of teams will use the aerial route against us. We don't have many options upfront. Taty is OK, but Pablo is just plain awful and offers nothing. Add to that a genuine lack of pace everywhere, and that is why I think we are not equipped for this division at the moment.
