Nils Koppen, a Belgian currently with FC Copenhagen being offered the Director of Transfer role and wants to accept. Work permit meeting today.

Interesting the Copenhagen have just appointed a new DOF so may be looking for a change.

To be honest, I'd never heard of the hire before Tuesday's news, yet to be confirmed.

What has he exactly done?

He knows Virani from Rangers. That's what he's done, Joyful.

That's a massive endorsement!

In Kretinsky we trust. Steidten has a great resume, and look what a disaster he turned out to be!

Hmmm, hope this is not a very quick and hurried appointment. But it's looking like it.

I'd agree with Dabber here. We previously hired Tim Steidten, who, many of us including me, raved about. But, even though hindsight is a great gift, he was, by and large, a disaster. A lot of the players were definitely talented, but so unsuitable to West Ham.

I'm sure the role will evolve, so I don't feel he has to be an overnight sensation. Surely, it's more about getting the right structure in place, and, even if this guy isn't the real deal, we can replace him with someone more appropriate.

To be honest, I won't talk bad about Steidten because I believe he was set up to fail. I don't think he ever had any level of autonomy; there were Moyes and Sullivan sticking their oar in. Sullivan wanted it to fail so he could make out he was the complete oracle on these matters. None of the managers appointed were anything to do with Steidten, and apparently Moyes had the last say on transfers.

Nils Coppen, I don't know loads about him. I do know he is 41 and has been at 7 different clubs in a non-player capacity, which is rarely a good sign though, but I hope he is better than what I know about him.
