Excellent article, very well written. Thank you for putting this together, and I think most of us would agree with about 90 - 95% of the players mentioned. My only difference of opinion is the badge. We need to accept, whether we like it or not, we are no longer at the Boleyn.

The castle, I am sure we all know, represents Green Street House, which was knocked down in 1955, which stood adjacent to Upton Park. Sadly, those times are gone, Upton Park has gone. I am 68 and attended games since I was a boy. Do I miss the old stadium? Yes, of course I do, but have I accepted we had to move with the times? Of course. Do I like the LS? Yes, and I also like the view from my seat. There are many things wrong with the LS, but there were also many things wrong with UP. Nowhere is perfect, and there are many teams that play at a ground with a running track who don't moan and have brilliant atmospheres.

Probably the most famous is Stade de France, followed by Stadio Olimpico, which Roma and Lazio share; both are farther away from the pitch than we are, but create a fantastic atmosphere and noise. There are many other multi purpose grounds around the world that have a running track and have a football pitch in the middle.

Hopefully someone will buy the stadium for our use for peanuts and make it into the stadium it should have been (yes, Mr Coe, we are talking about you). Until then, let's just make the best of how it is at the moment and get behind the team, and before you ask, yes I am fully for something like the current badge but without London on it.

It is not the stadium that makes the atmosphere but the players on it. The last few seasons, the football has been poor. I was at our European nights when it was rocking.

You are both right. I was also there for every European night, and the atmosphere was electric in some of them and great in others. Something we all agree is that if the football is good, so is the atmosphere. If the football is crap, so is the atmosphere.

Totally agree with those last points. It's all about the football produced. One of my mates recently went to watch Napoli V Atalanta. The stadium is probably designed even more for athletics, much further from the action than the KS, but the atmosphere was amazing.

Hammer D, you are right. I just looked at Napoli's stadium. Oh my god, and we think we are a long way from the pitch. Wth, but as you said, they still manage to create a great atmosphere.
