The original 5 year plan for WH, Steidten would in part seek out, players with potential, to sell on down the line for huge profit, and reinvest the amounts in the team (as per Declan Rice ) in 2/3/4 players increasing the value and quality of the squad, that was his remit, he's smart, problem is now, instead of him watching. Players, other clubs are now watching him, and those whom he sends to scout and inform, he's jumped in straightaway, with two of the three Brazilians, but the media is all over it, best policy at present, stabilise the WH team with many players available in Europe, and get back to the hunt next season

So it’s all about how much he can make out of the transfers in the future, not the here and now, as well as the club potentially? Not for me unless I’m proved too cynical??⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒

So to make sure I understand you correctly Chelmsford, you don’t want to see West Ham sign talented youngsters, with a view to helping them improve and therefore improving their value?
Because that is exactly what was just explained. Kudus is EXACTLY that. He was a talented player, ok he is 23 and not a teenager, but his value has increased since he joined West Ham and there is every possibility we will sell him in the next season or two for a tidy profit we can reinvest in other Kudus-esque signings.
Personally, if the squad improves immediately with the signing of these younger players, some raw talent, some a little green around the edges, some that hit the ground running, some that take a year or two to make their mark, and we then sell those youngsters for profits and reinvest… we become a self-sustaining club financially when it comes to player transfer budgets and I think it sets up the real possibility that West Ham competes at a competitive level, year in, year out.

Seems to me that if we are learning anything its to get business done quickly and quietly. No more of this pondering, mulling and considering or constant haggling. So many clubs out there now chasing the same players we cannot afford to hang about

I want us to sign players that can hit the ground running, here and now, Kudus has been a massive signing but he hit the ground running! What do we have an Academy for, exactly that, how many have we nurtured to make us millions, not many? So who’s not doing a job with the youngsters!

We have a great youth set up at West Ham. Recent youth cup winners and under 23s having a few great seasons. To take advantage of these great up and coming players you have to play them at the highest level. By now several of the youth should have experience of 1st team football, they are ready and in my opinion of being the new Ferdinand, Cole and Rice. BUT we have had a manager ( Moyes ) that refused to give them a chance and play them, if he had over the last 2 years we would have the Top clubs around the world taking interest in them. They could be future stars, but if you don’t play them you will never get any investment back.

All Premiership clubs have youth systems, but they don’t rely on them alone for young talent. To do so would be madness. Kudus may have hit the ground running, but he’s 23, not 18 - a product of someone else’s youth and development system, albeit abroad. Searching for young future talent makes good sense.

Chelmsford, we all want West Ham to sign players that are going to hit the ground running. I even said that in my previous post. However, West Ham have a big rebuild this summer, I think we are probably all in agreement that we need to sign 6-7 players.
I would love to see West Ham sign 6-7 players that have an immediate impact like Kudus did, but we signed Kudus for £43 million and whilst we'd all love to see it, signing 6-7 players for £43 million, in one window for a total cost of £258-301 million. It simply isn’t affordable for us.
So, I will make my point again, but I’ll explain myself more and use examples (I will only use players we have actually been linked with and the fees I have seen banded about, obviously not including sign ons, agent fees, I don't know enough about it) .
Sign a handful of players that we expect to hit the ground running and be able to do a job, some with resale value, others without.
Free agent - GK - WES FODERINGHAM - to add to the homegrown quota
Free agent - LB - JUAN MIRANDA - thrown this one in their, not sure if we are linked
£35 million - CB - MAX KILMAN
£25 million - F - YOUSSEF EN-NESYRI
Then sign players who have potential to improve, are on the younger side, who we all hope hit the ground running but might take a little time to settle, these will be players that we want to see their value greatly improve, as these are the players we would likely sell at a later date for profits to boost our funds in subsequent transfer windows.
£15 million - CM - Aleix Garcia
£10 million - CM - Diego Gomez
£17 million - W - Jota Silva
£25 million - W - Luis Guilherme
Etc.
The point I am making Chelsmford, we would have more money to spend this window if we were selling Aguerd, Benrahma, Cornet, Ings for a profit.
