We all know the problem (Moyes apart) squad exposed too thin couple of injuries a suspension. Etc and we are done, that's it No need to look any further, and until we have at least 20 first team players it will never be any different, we are at least 3/4 short, so we do good then the injuries come along , afcon etc , boom implodes , this is becoming a repetitive cycle, there is only one solution get shot of those that have been mentioned so many times, and buy more than sold, will we do it NO not in this window. Anyway, sorry to go on but there it is

Everybody happy with that fantastic performance from MOYES tactics I ain't blaming the players as they are being asked to play in a way which the ain't comfortable with I am convinced of this and you watch us drop down the league in the next few months. ⚒⚒⚒

So David Moyes actually said this about Ings yesterday:

“Danny was probably the best player when he came on. I’d talk about his performance rather than anything else.”

Discuss.

It was a pretty low bar to be honest he did have some nice passes and turns when he came on but best player is perhaps Moyes putting him in the shop window I think.

Funny you said that because I think it's the exact opposite. Ings isn't going anywhere and Moyes bigging him up was his way of letting us know exactly that.

He did probably have the biggest influence out of the subs not exactly hard though was it, shame those nice turns and passes were 30-40 yards deeper than where he should be doing it, not his fault though that's the tactics.

Concerning we've spent close to half a billion in the Moyes era and our squad has so many aging players and players that want out, really poor planning and recruitment by the Daves. Selling players at a huge loss, and we all know who rejected younger talented players like Caciedo and Julian Alvarez.

Tim fighting with one arm behind his back having to deal with the dithering and dodgy dinosaurs.

Its always the same this time of year. We knew we had a desperatley thin squad last summer but what did MOYES Do? Yes we made some good signings but that wasn't down to MOYES.

Whats amazing is that people in here were pointing out how thin our squad was but as always nothing was done. Surely If we can see it moyes, TS and the board must

Yeah but we're sitting on 34 points so Sully is in seventh heaven knowing relegation is not a threat. Even if we lose every game from now until March, he really isn't being compelled to put his hand into his pockets this month and Moyes certainly won't be rocking any boats for him to do so. Steiden's starting to look a wee bit token at the moment imho.

Once we get Paq, Kudus and Bowen back, Sullivan and Moyes know we'll pick up the 5 or 6 points that'll guarantee safety this season (notwithstanding that 34 points looks like it's enough anyway tbf) .

I know it's a strange thing to be talking about relegation when we're sitting 6th in the League, but if we're celebrating a decent cup run (s) and are closer to 6th than 16th at the end of the season, I'll be shocked I tell 'ya, shocked.

Gary on Claret and Booze uncovered an old survey done by supporters of previous clubs managed by Moyes. It’s incredible that Moyes has not changed in over 20 years! Even phrases used then are being used today such as ‘dithering’. Complaints about his inabilities and limitations were exactly the same at Everton and Man Utd as they are today. My fear is that a danger exists at WHU that Steidten might give up through lack of support by Sullivan and he might be tempted to go elsewhere.

Yep Tinny I watched that.
What is interesting is that when When Moyes went to Everton they were basically a mid table/relegation threatened side that he turned into a regular top 6 side, so in that respect you're right he hasn't changed in 20 odd years if you look at his record at West Ham.
Interestingly since Moyes departure it looks like Everton are back on the relegation threatened/mid table road once again.

Er, that’s a blatant lie. Out of the 12 years Moyes was in charge, Everton finished in the top six just 4 times!

Tinny, of the 11 full seasons Moyes was at Everton they finished top 6 five times 4 x 7/8 and only twice outside the top 10.
Prior to that in the Prem era they had 1 top 6 finish with the remainder of the seasons finishing in the bottom half.
Since Moyes left Everton they have finished 5th (the season immediately after Moyes departure) 3 x 7/8 1 10th place finish with the remainder being bottom half finishes.
You don't have to like Moyes or his playing style but it's hard to take apart his record, especially at Everton even though you may try.

Er, wrong again mate.
2001/2002 15th
2002/2003 7th
2003/2004 17th
2004/2005 4th
2005/2006 11th
2006/2007 7th
2007/2008 5th
2008/2009 5th
2009/2010 8th
2010/2011 7th
2011/2012 7th
2012/2013 6th
I make that four times in the twelve seasons Moyes had anything to do with managing Everton. He basically saved them from being a mid-table team to become a mid-table team. In other words, he did sweet FA.

I don’t call that REGULAR top six!

Tin legs, Moyes took over in the March of the 01/02 season, if you want to include that as a full season fine.
According to the Premier league website Everton finished 6th in the 06/07 season.
Whether you wish to give him any credit or not it's clear that in the prem era Moyes has consistently delivered Evertons best league finishes over an 11 or if you wish a 12 year period.
Anyway I'm sure you will disagree and that's fine we all have our own views and opinions. As I said you me or anyone else doesn't have to like Moyes but imo at least he did a very good job at Everton.

16.) 16 Jan 2024
16 Jan 2024 13:42:51
It matters little if it were four, five or six times, to suggest that Everton under Moyes was a REGULAR top six side is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. Note, I referred to the twelve seasons in which Moyes ‘had anything to do with managing Everton’. Regardless of this, the point is Moyes’ record at Everton cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be called successful in terms of achievements. Everton fans weren’t exactly wearing sack cloth and ashes when he left, and despite his availability on a number of occasions since then, the club hasn’t fallen over itself to get him back. No, Moyes’ record in management hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory, and that’s ignoring his terms at Sunderland and Real Sociedad!
