Phillips has less pace and can’t read the game anywhere near as well as Rice. He’s not a bad player, but would be a huge downgrade.

In all honesty pretty much ANYONE signed to replace Rice will be a downgrade. I'm honestly hard pushed to think of a better player in his position in the world at the moment, and that's in a list that includes the likes of Kimmich, Busquets and Casemiro.

That said, when Rice goes I'd be more than made up if we actually pushed the boat out and tried to sign Ryan Gravenberch - fantastic player who's going to get better and better.
