What odds Rafa Benitez to replace moyes in the summer?

I bloody hope not! We desperately need a young progressive manager. Now would be an ideal time to grab the likes of Michael Carrick before one of the rich clubs bags him. Newcastle will soon be looking for a new manager. Eddie Howe is a bolted on certainty for the England job once Southgate hits the out tray, and Spurs are always lurking in the background if their next appointment doesn’t work out. I can’t see Vincent Kompany staying long term at Burnley. We need to invest now for the future.

Rumours circling that RAFA could well be taking over in the summer. TBH, he's not my choice, but any manager that gets the players enjoying the football again, who knows how to get results and can get them fit to compete will do nicely. And anyone but MOYES cause I can't wait to see the back of him

We need to look to the future, not the past. Although a sloth would be an improvement on Moyes, Rafa would be a retrograde step. Even he knows his time is limited, and that’s why he’s insisting on a long term contract, but I’m sure you’re right. That would be typical of Sullivan - no vision and opting for the cheaper option. No compensation.

Rafa Benitez is a world class operator. Tactically among the very best out there.

He has won major trophies in every country he has managed. This guy is a serious upgrade on Moyes.

You’re right, Mike. Benitez has been sacked by some of the best clubs in the world. He’s that good he’s been unemployed for nearly 18 months after his last club fired him for losing 9 out of 13 matches in charge.

I have to agree with MIKE. He has won more trophies than Moyes can dream about. Does it not seem strange to everyone that when MOYES was under the most pressure, Benitez was heavy favourite to take over (but "APPARENTLY" he wanted a long term contract and quite rightly, whereas we wanted to offer him a deal until the end of the year) . Since then, look at how many managers have been sacked and how many of those posts has he been linked to? None! Oh yeah, he was mentioned regularly but never really in talks with any of them. He has openly said he would like the west ham job and that he is looking for a project, which let's face it, is what we need. A complete re-build, starting at the back because we cannot defend. He is tactically sound and let's face it, he was never going to succeed at EVERTON with his Liverpool Links. Toon fans love him, so he can't be that bad

Ah yeah, they also think he is a god at the MASTALA. At Newcastle he did wonders without any real backing from MIKE ASHLEY. Napoli he walked away from and then they wanted him back again

Comparing Rafa with Moyes, give me Rafa any day. My point is, there are better options out there than a manager who is clearly at the end of his football career, no matter what he’s done in the past.

Could be a lot worse.Sam allardyce?

Isn’t he off to Elland Road?

You only have to look at Everton now to see the miracles Benitez was performing before he left. That, despite serious fan opposition and almost no transfer budget.

Anyone who knows football knows why some owners are reluctant to appoint him. It’s nothing to do with the results on the pitch.

Don’t you think that the managerial incompetence of Frank Lampard had a bearing on the current Everton situation?

13.) 03 May 2023
03 May 2023 07:55:33
Definitely, Frank isn't the best manager tbh. I would have RAFA without a doubt. He gets his teams organised, hard to beat and they score goals

03 May 2023 08:37:38
I got to agree with Mike. RAFA is loved at numerous clubs, at Everton he was never given a chance. Again, not my choice, but, he is a winner and tactical genius. He wins wherever he goes

15.) 03 May 2023
03 May 2023 11:58:35
Yes, all true, but we are all missing the point. There’s no doubting Rafa succeeds at MOST clubs he manages (not all) but by appointing him at WHU, aren’t we in danger of missing the boat (again)?

03 May 2023 14:28:39
I don't think so. Isn't it about time we had a manager who knows how to win silverware. A manager who can comfortably attract decent players from abroad who want to play for him and not just for a payout. He speaks multiple languages well so no communication problems. He is tactically astute and doesn't sit back against the big teams.

Sorry, Daisy, but you and I will have to agree to disagree this time. I'd rather go for a younger, progressive, attack minded coach, for the ever developing modern game. Today's players want to play for such managers who encourage open play. If we don't grab one of them, you can be sure that other clubs will. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Rafa than Moyes any day of the week, but there are better options out there.

Boro or the Bernabeu, interim or Inter Milan, Champions League or Championship. The choice is clear. Benitez is a very safe pair of hands. Carrick is a risk.

And that is exactly why we are in the situation we currently find ourselves today. A complete lack of vision. Says it all.
Bernabeu? Should read Boro or the labour exchange, ‘cos that’s where he’s been for the last 16 months! And he hasn’t managed Inter for 13 years. Come on, Mike, that’s absolutely misleading and you know it.
