I really hope Slaven turns things around but he won't with the current crop of players. He needs to have a good clear out of all those players that have an attitude or think they are too good for west ham and of course the rubbish and then he needs to be ruthless with them. Underperform and your dropped. Get some youth in Reece Burke, Oxford, Martinez etc cause they can't do any worse than current rubbish. Go get some premier league fringe players and get rid of our garbage starting with goalkeepers who are rubbish.

id love Reece burke back and play him at RB if need be, not sure about oxford don't think he's good enough at the moment to be honest, Martinez looks a bit lightweight aswell both ones for the future sure about chucking them into a relegation fight might destroy their confidence.

Every now and for some unbeknown reason I decide to look at this site and I'm reminded exactly what I hate about modern day football and it's fans. It's a hugely competitive league that we compete in and spending money is no guarantee of success, as we have seen this season. The owners are praised and rightly so IMO when things are going well, remember where we were when they came in? They got us the deal of the century when we got the Olympic stadium, but as we are struggling to settle there (as clubs often do when moving stadiums) they are accused of ripping the soul out of the club. They have continually ploughed their own money into the club to raise transfer funds and provide stability to our club. Sometimes it doesn't work out with transfers, this happens at every club regardless of how how carefully you try to avoid it. Do you really believe they are not doing their absolutely upmost for the good of this club? How can people be so fickle as to jump on the bandwagon, call them all the names under the sun and suggest they get out of our club, some serious perspective is needed! Maybe ED02 was correct when he talked about bringing in a director of football and that could be the way forward, they do seem to make mistakes in this department but does that outweigh all the good they have done? Give them time to get it right, as they have so often done since they took over. Do you also think Leicester should sacked Ranieri, get rid of Vardy, Mahrez and anyone else how hasn't quite performed as well as last season? Last season I think we'll all agree was fantastic and was always going to be a hard act to follow. Even harder when you consider we had a number of injuries to key players at the start of the season and a lot of new players that as a result had to pushed straight into the 1st team all at once. Now I am not suggesting they are all going to turn it around but I think you need to look beyond the surface and not just write them all off as rubbish because we are barely above the relegation zone. I believe that we will come good and finish in a respectable mid table position and hopefully push on next season. I personally don't think this will be solved by throwing more money at the situation but by coming together as a squad and have a little more continuity than we have had of late. I think it's commendable how DGS do not jump quick to sack mangers they hire, it's right that they give Slaven time to turn it around, especially given the injuries we've had and the incredibly tough run we've had of late. We as supporters should be the team rather than throwing the toys out of the pram because they didn't sign your favorite player from Championship Manager.

Much better to slap on the old rose tinted glasses and pretend every things all OK while we dive down towards championship it's obvious after last season that there's much more wrong than just a stadium move even though that will work out eventtually I thiink, the recruitment in the summer was terrible, the players that hit the heights last year are performing way under par, just because dgs took over when the icelanders messed us up doesn't give them a free pass now we are heading for a relegation battle

Also people will give opnions on transfersale it's what these sites are for.

Hi my friend, good post, BUT you are not grasping SOME of the problem, Which is Mr Sullivan in particular seems to think he is abetter judge of a player, than people he employs, IF that's so why bother with a manager at all, He can do it, He also apparently is having conversations with SB about team selection, IS THAT GOOD as well?, It's like having a dog and barking yourself, he is agood negotiator no question about that, BUT has made some dreadful errors as well the AYEW saga being the most blatant, My own thrust, is It think their race is nearly run. And we do not have enough clout financially anymore to complete. With most oremier clubs, the time to hand over the reins of the club is appearing on the far horizon, IRONMIKE.

I totally agree that he does make some mistakes and he should not be getting involved in selection or identifying transfer targets. However, my point is that by and large they have done a fantastic job in the time they have been at the club and they deserve a little more gratitude than they are shown at times. Not saying we have to agree with everything but I find it distasteful to make sweeping statements attacking them personally. I don't like the notion that they'll have to sell up because they don't have the financial clout, IMO clubs should be self sustaining, especially given how much revenue we currently enjoy in the PL. ROBBO, I get where you are coming from and can imagine it does come across that way. I get as frustrated as anyone watching us atm but I think sometimes factors other than new signings are huge influences that often get overlooked. It's not an easy league to play in and if you are just slightly off you will more than likely lose, momentum turns against you, pressure mounts from media and fans alike and it's a massive challenge to get back to winning ways, especially if you are contending with injuries and players still acclimatising to the PL. I think us fans are more important than ever at times like this, to get behind our team and not add to the difficulties of the task at hand. I accept your point about what the site is for - I was trying to highlight that it's not abject failure if they fail to land these targets or do not attempt to sign them. With the FFP constraints they cannot just keep buying players without moving others on, which whilst in the form we have been in would be a greatly reduced fees. I see that as a costly knee jerk solution which has no guarantee of success and doesn't represent a good long term strategy for the sustainability of the club. That being said if we have the opportunity to bring in someone they think could absolutely make the difference, I would be all for it. Sorry that was much longer than I intended.

Well said Jack - the voice of reason

This stuff about ripping the soul our of the club could not be more ridiculous

The most common criticism of owners by fans is that they don't show enough ambition - there will continue to be problems with the move to Stratford but to have spurned the opportunity it offers would have been weak and the biggest mistake.

Jack, I find your comments really refreshing. and I in most part agree with them. We should be happy with what's happened so far and where we've come from and where we are now. However I do think Mike and many others have valid points too. I think SB deserves more time and a chance to turn it around. I also think however the off-season recruitment was a shambles. There were obvious mistakes like a lack of RB, plus the fact that there isn't one new recruit who looks like they've improved the team. Where we building a second team to compete in Europe, or where we looking at players to improve the team? Striker issue was a tough one, not many about and all inflated prices, and we panic bought again. But the high number of right wingers we got, with only Fernandes looking decent and Nordveit looking poor you do have to question who scouted, pushed for, and signed these guys. Yes not all new signings work out, and adapting to Premier league is tough, but to not have one new signing making the starting line up must raise some questions. Tore is a great example. My friend is Turkish and he was very surprised that we signed him, said he was really inconsistent, lazy and not a player of the ethic and quality to play in a top half EPL team. So what did we see in him?
I think that maybe the owners have done what they can and time for a new project? Maybe recruitment policy needs a total overhaul?
Just my thoughts for what they're worth.

{Ed001's Note - in the case of Tore, he was very much Bilic's choice.}

Yes Ed, realised I chose a bad example there as I think we know SB pushed for him. still weird. Just the player I had most insight in to.

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate, just thought it was fair to point out that the recruitment was a shambles by all parties, not just the owners.}
