Heard that Gomez doesn't want to return to Turkey due to the issues there, worth going back in for him? Do a job, and certainly with Carroll injury record we have 2 guys?

barnie884

{Ed002's Note - Besiktas would like to keep hold of Mario Gomez and make his loan permanent - but they are aware that the right offer from elsewhere would tempt both the player and they are aware the player does not wish to return with local issues making the headlines. A number of sides took a look at him in the second half of the end of the season including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Spurs. Fiorentina are not expecting him to return their at any point but they, like the player and Besiktas, are an involved party in any potential transfer as the provisions of the second year of the loan mean that Besiktas will need a payment. Interest is limited with only Wolfsburg declaring that they would like to discuss a transfer. At 31 and with the timing not right for the MLS, where at least one club are interested, a decision needs to be made quickly.}

We haven't won a pre season game yet so not a good start for us. jack Sullivan needs to stop keeping us fans excited about new signings because they don't seem to happen, he recons by Friday we will have signed a striker hope he is right but I'm sure we would of heard about it, if we do I recon it is calleri.

2.) 21 Jul 2016 11:20:31
It seems according to multiple sources that Carlos Bacca is on his way to West Ham. Callieri deal has also been agreed but he must wait for work permit.

3.) 21 Jul 2016 11:13:12
Thanks Ed. I'm not panicking like some, but if not too pricey I would be happy with his proven quality, especially if we can get one of our other big money targets too.

OMG.
Just when I thought they couldn't get any more crazy I read this! . This paper should be banned from writing about the Hammers ever again!

West Ham United are set to make a sensational £20million offer for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling (Brentwood Gazette)

1.) 05 Apr 2016 08:53:17
I'd love to know what the columnist that writes these articles is smoking. Lol

2.) 05 Apr 2016 11:58:52
I live in Amsterdam, and trust me, nothing you can smoke here would make me say this kind of rubbish they come up with!

West Ham are lining up a £20m bid for Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

The reports suggests the Champions League chasing Hammers are keen to bring in a marquee signing as they prepare to move to the Olympic Stadium, and Dzeko has been identified as a potential target.

The former Manchester City striker moved from the Etihad to join Roma in a permanent deal last summer and has scored nine goals in all competitions for the Italian club so far this season.

Assume this is just another crazy Brentwood gazette thing. where on earth do they get these from. Drunk guys in the Nags head?

1.) 21 Mar 2016 17:20:03
this one has been around before personally I think he's a good player that would regularly for us

but again ssn is saying we want one from benteke, lacazette or batschuayi

after what sullivan said about strikers we will be linked with everyone

if it was up to me I'd like to see us have a real go for zaza from juve.

2.) 21 Mar 2016 18:57:49
Hope not. I think dzekos a bit of a donkey to be honest and approaching the end of his career. 20m would be way overpriced for his age and ability.

3.) 21 Mar 2016 19:27:49
45 goals in 76 internationals wouldn't call him a donkey lol and he's 30 more than young enough for 3 or 4 decent seasons I would've thought.

4.) 21 Mar 2016 21:05:05
Personally I'd rather go for some of the other names we've been linked with instead of Dzeko. Bony is also someone I'd look at.

5.) 22 Mar 2016 08:47:14
International records don't always mean a lot. There's plenty of strikers who have great records for there country but don't have the same club record eg. Peter crouch, David healy, stern John.
So would you pay 20m for a 30 year old? If so I'm glad you ain't in charge of transfers.

6.) 22 Mar 2016 09:56:50
I personally want to see West Ham sign two forwards in the Summer. Ideally someone that can play out wide if needed and an out and out forward.

There are a few versatile forward options I'd like us to look at.

Alexander Lacazette
Mohamed Salah
Kevin Volland
Ahmed Musa
Andre Ayew
Paul George-Ntep
Ousmane Dembele

Then for the out and out forward options I'd like us to look at.

Javier Hernandez
Wilfred Bony
Cristian Benteke
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Mischy Batshuayi

I'd also like to see us go all out for Nicholas N'Koulou (centre back playing for Marseille) and Sofiane Feghouli (right winger playing for Valencia) . Both have been linked to some big names already as they're Both available on a free, but I think we should be aiming to sign quality players.

7.) 22 Mar 2016 09:50:51
50 goals from 130 man citeh appearances many as a sub is still pretty good I'd say and 66 from 111 in wolf's burg I think proves he can score at the top level and if I thought he could fire us into champions league then he would be worth every penny of 20 million but let's face it he would cost nearer to 10 million anyway and I'd rather spend it on a 50 year old than benteke lol

plus if you see what I read I already said I'd prefer zaza.

8.) 22 Mar 2016 10:48:51
Lol agree on benteke. Defo not keen on him.
Dzekos record was good at wolfsburg but that was a long time ago now. I think we need to look to someone younger personally and maybe zaza could be ideal.
If there's any chance of us luring lacazette then that would be my preference as he's got pace and would be able to play across the front line.

9.) 22 Mar 2016 11:07:37
I think lacazette would be a great signing but I think there could well be a few clubs in for him so this might be difficult to pull off

don forget we have the euros this summer swell which could well throw a couple more names in the hat aswell!

10.) 22 Mar 2016 11:40:19
Yh lacazette is a long shot. But you never know, I'm sure payet was as well last season. It'll all depend on where we finish the season. It'll be an interesting summer for sure.

11.) 30 Mar 2016 20:28:59
I think payet is key to this transfer as much as our new stadium which will attract top players we are 3-4 players short of challenging for top honours next season, I also think billic could be touted for a top job next year but I don't think he'd leave as his heart is 100% west ham let's spank the eagles saturday COYI.

Just seen this on Sly

West Ham target Raul Jimenez is inching closer to playing for Benfica this season after the Portuguese side acquired 50 per cent of his playing rights, according to AS.

The Hammers have an injury crisis up front and manager Slaven Bilic admitted that his side were close to signing Jimenez from Atletico Madrid.

However, he looks set for Lisbon and not east London, with Benfica in pole position to land the Mexico international.

04 Aug 2015 15:21:59
Just seen Anders Lindegaard has been told he can leave on a freebie. not a good shout for backup GK?

barnie884

1.) 04 Aug 2015 16:03:11
Yes, but for reasons mostly unknown,wh have Randolph as second string, don't ask me why,? The common consensus, is he is jittery, unsighted, and short tempered , with his defence. He is a poor choice wh could do SO much better, IRONMIKE

2.) 04 Aug 2015 21:20:21
We won't be signing another keeper this window Randolph is back up keeper wether we like it or not

3.) 05 Aug 2015 12:15:43
After that save the other day, Spiegel may have put himself in contention for the second string spot!

Hey all, not posted for a while.
I think Fornals criticism is harsh, he works hard and being played out of position, he needs to be at 10 with Yarmo or Anderson on the wing. Legend but Nobles needs to benched with Yarmo Anderson or Haller instead.
And Cresswell is finished, need that LB
Maybe controversial but maybe Rice going would be a blessing in disguise. Fund 2 FB CB and a replacement.
Love him to stay but maybe we need the cash for an overhall.

barnie884

1.) 13 Sep 2020 13:27:53
Agree I think cress is finished and fornals would be suited better in the middle we need pace out wide!

Antonio was isolated and had to come wide or deep to get the ball I think we should stick Haller up top get Antonio and bowen to support him with anderson through the middle. Many combinations we can try in an attack sense.

Your forgetting though If rice goes we would need to get another holding midfielder aswell as fullbacks and CB. Holding midfielder is the most important positions for me.

If we are being linked with Tarkowski we must have 30-40million so I'd go with who I mentioned below Gosens and Tomiyasu. Both look solid, Tomiyasu can play CB, RB, DM.

27 Apr 2019 14:38:45
Great result boys, and Marco actually decided to play on the 2nd half. Diop, Noble, Rice and just about the whole team were monsters out there! Just wish we could do that against the lesser teams.

barnie884

1.) 27 Apr 2019 14:51:45
We were absolutely awesome today
Great to beat spuds!
Every single player gave everything, proud
of the boys today.

2.) 27 Apr 2019 15:14:57
Agreed we were fantastic today, Antonio took his goal brilliantly👍Had fright when I saw Wheelchair warming up, but so pleased he didn’t get involved, he simply does not have the stamina to run and chase! Diop so unlucky to run out of steam with his finish on Lloris. Every single player had a great game, nobody could be criticised, as Barnie said, even Arnie was running and chasing especially in the second half, lovely ball through for Antonio to smash it in👍👍⚒⚒⚒.

07 Aug 2018 09:59:46
Just wondered on peoples opinion. So many people divided on the London stadium, but have to ask the question. would we have had
1) the income to sign these players
2) been such an attractive prospect to recruits
I think not. but interested to see what others think.

barnie884

1.) 07 Aug 2018 12:16:50
Whilst many, many fans hated leaving the Boleyn, it would be very hard to argue that this remarkable transfer window is not a result of the move.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 12:39:35
Without the finances of the stadium this type of window would have been fairy tale stuff IRONMIKE.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 13:28:12
If you were a good player and was looking for a move and was looking to win a trophy would you opt to play for Manuel Pellegrini in a 35000 seater stadium on say 60 grand a week or would you like to play for Avram Grant in a 80000 seater stadium on a 100 grand a week? I know which one I would choose. Yes stadiums bring in extra cash but they don't win you trophies and build successful teams managers do that.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 13:56:44
MP isn’t Avram Grant that’s ridiculous. I fully understand the melancholy for the Boleyn. However in football as in life you either move forward or you become a dinosaur and we know what happened to them. IRONMIKE.

5.) 07 Aug 2018 14:34:33
Thats my point exactly MP is a far superior manager than Avram Grant and is far more likely to win a trophy regardless of what stadium he is in. Successful managers attract good players simple as that. If in 5 years time we have not won anything the good players will not come just to play at the LS it is absurd to think otherwise unless they are mercenaries and who wants a team like that.

6.) 07 Aug 2018 15:23:37
Well IMHO I think we need all in place. Don't think we could afford MP and all his signings without the London stadium, so I think the whole package of extra income, 21st century stadium and finally some ambition on both manager and players will hopefully get us competing at least for top 6.

7.) 07 Aug 2018 15:45:21
I 100% agree with IRONMIKE. Stadium move was very emotional, but we have to move forward. We MOVED to Upton Park, and now we MOVE to The Olympic Stadium. We are the best fans in the PL (IMO) and have already shown how loud it is when we all sing and cheer on the team.
Expectations got WAY out of hand when we first moved, and that was the fault of the owners. However, to quote Sullivan back in Jan 2015 "I would be disappointed if we don’t join the so-called top six within the next five years", they are making a statement to try and get there with this window! And technically have two more seasons to meet that target.
If they can sort out the legal stuff with Khan etc then they may well be able to make changes and make it more like our home. The fact we rent it limits what they can do, I hope this is now Sullivans focus while MP and Husillos work on the football side.

8.) 07 Aug 2018 16:07:12
We had opportunities in the past at Upton park we just failed to build on good seasons. You would have to be foolish not to see the bigger stadium is a great opportunity to build, but I will reserve judgement until we have actually won something or are regularly in the top seven "fortunes always hiding" . One thing is for sure the fans can't do it for them. We can spend our money and cheer but at the end of the day it will be down to MP and whether he can turn these players into a team.

9.) 07 Aug 2018 21:03:12
Suprise suprise RICHARD KEYS predicts west ham will struggle not as much as he has since degrading the linesman who was female along with his other filthy scotchman andy gray what a tool he is. COYI.

{Ed007's Note - Scotch is a drink mate but I agree with you about Keys and Gray.}

10.) 08 Aug 2018 21:36:59
Ha ha ed scotsman i got there in the end mate.

{Ed007's Note - I think it's funny when people do it, it can be an egg as well :)

Oh Great. This shows a lot about our scouting. According to ssn shows this at the U21s

Number of scouts Premier League club
4 Arsenal, Southampton, Tottenham, Watford
3 Chelsea
2 Everton, Huddersfield, West Brom
1 Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Man City, Newcastle, Stoke
0 Brighton, Burnley, Liverpool, Man Utd, Swansea, West Ham.

barnie884

1.) 23 Jun 2017 14:55:09
Typical and there is some decent quality out there.

2.) 23 Jun 2017 16:14:48
Yeah, see what potential stars of the future available at decent prices could be there.
So frustrating, surely sending 1 scout to Poland wouldn't break the bank! : (.

Jesus Navas just been released from City. now there's some pace!

Thankfully after Fornals arrival then Shelvey move should be dead in the water. Never wanted him in the first place, and think we got much better value for money with him anyway apart from much better player.

Yeah, even if half the rumours are true, his 'social' indulgences, lack of professionalism and lifestyle in general have got to be a major factor. If he was a true professional I'm pretty sure he would have been fit a lot, lot more.

Totally agree, Shelvey bad attitude, overrated and inconsistent. If he wasn't a Hammers fan probably never even hear about him. I'd steer clear, unless was a freebie and worth a gamble. But he's not getting into a team fighting relegation for a reason!

Yeah but in a 442 there's no no10 unless he plays right up alongside Haller in a Sheringham role
I would drop Snods and try Anderson again tbh.

Yeah so true, many players take at least half a season to get to speed. he's a long term plan!
Also, for me, although wrong choice passing instead of shooting against Villa, he showed some class with some of his touches. Maybe a big one Sunday, but think will see him start over Yarmalenko. Heard Lanzini maybe a doubt, so could be him or Wilshere at 10 anyway.

Well there are a couple of free agents we could sign, Bony and Ben Arfa. wonder if he will, or just have the 2 strikers and wait for Antonio and Silva to get back from injury (and keep fingers crossed)

I think the key for me is consistency. We turn up some games, top opponents and look top class, then against lower half teams don't seem to be able to get up for the game.
If we can get one or 2 good quality names in, improve that consistency then UEFA I think is realistic goal.
