Here ya go, this is a sign of our ambition. We bid a shocking 10m euros for hans vanaken.

Vanaken could turn out to be our Fellainy. It would make such a nice change if we could for once just find out what the player is valued at and go in with a bid somewhere near the asking price. Moyes has said that our transfer strategy has to change and boy is he right. So, if we get this PSG defender, EMERSON and Vanaken, we have cover for nearly every position apart from BOWEN so why not go for BAMBA DIENG or Kluivert who can play anywhere along the front line

Vanaken if reports a right wants to leave i believe in his last year and is 30ish 10m euros what wrong with that
If we can pull it off it would be good business
Read kehrer is over for medical again another good buy and with emerson a left back that defends seems clever to me especially if it helps scamarra settle
Ok hasn't the stats of other players mentioned but there are other windows and cresswell won't be with us in a season or 2

Agree with this. We have picked up some good additions this summer but it would appear that some here think money is limitless and everyone should be the subject of massive bids. Maybe a dose of reality needed and an acceptance that WHU have done well the last few years and enjoy it

This makes good sense and is less wishful thinking and financially affordable

It isn’t about bidding 50m for every position everyone appreciates we can’t do that, or at least everyone with any sense. The real issue is with chasing the Onana’s of the world, the Zielinski, Nunes, Gallagher and in the previous window Phillips, Darwin Nunez, Raphinha - landing none and being beat to the signing in some cases by teams that should have less pull.

Either we are actually trying to sign those players or we aren’t - which is it because the people that are doing the job don’t seem to know. They bid, waste time, then walk away. Yes you won’t get every one over the line but a big fat zero on these should tell something about the poor way West Ham go about their business. Now on the other hand if we are to accept there should be a number of signings of lesser money where are they?

There won’t be 4 more in a couple of weeks to make up the numbers, not happening. Newman was brought in because everyone knows Moyes is rubbish at getting deals done but what has changed? We have Sullivan still making bids on his own, Newman identifying players that Moyes then says no to after we have put bids in, we have Moyes suggesting top players can’t be made any promises about game time and need to wait for their chance.

I like what Moyes has done in the pitch, I am elated with where we are as a club against where we were 2 seasons ago, but there was a real chance to push on in January and when we missed that this summer became that much more important. We have not performed well in the off season and our management of transfers is a shambles well below the standards of most other premier league sides.

I still back Moyes as manager, I still think our board isn’t as bad as some make out, there are lots of positives, but if people can’t see the way we handle transfers isn’t up to the standard required and needs serious addressing then I think they are wearing rose tinted glasses. It is ok to criticise, you can still be a supporter, be realistic about what we can and can’t afford, and still find fault. If you can’t you haven’t been watching.

Anakin? Skywalker describes our blue sky hope for the best thinking; without anything, even a plan, to back it up.
