WH have spent not a small amount in fees already on independent scouting trips all over the show, , having said that We have got to do better than last year, , when people like sanchez come in, then we have to lose money and get shot the following season -- we cannot continue to shift truckloads of people around, we have to move to a future where maybe 4/ 5 maximum is the quota not 10/ 14 IRONMIKE.

How do you become a scout? I go over to Caribbean every year so would be easy to go Brazil/ Argentina instead and watch some matches.
I think we need to start looking at getting potential superstars rather than the ready made (save money and high sell-on) until we are a lot bigger.

It was always going to take time for MP to fully evaluate his resources. The last summer window saw major investment and MP has now had over half a season to see how well the gelling of the old and the new has worked, though the ridiculous injury list hasn’t helped there. We still have gaps and underperformers and I am sure that these have been fully discussed at length with S&G. Husillos will have been briefed about the positions that need strengthening. It would not surprise me if we have a major clearout in the summer.

For me, of those who have had playing time this season, Arnie, Carroll, Masuaku, Perez and Obiang are definite permanent leavers. Ogbonna might be another. I am on the fence with Chicha, but if we buy a “top” striker, Chicha won’t always start and that will probably mean he pushes to go to Spain.

I can also see us investing in a box to box strong man to support Rice.

A starting XI as follows wouldn’t be bad:

Fab
Fredericks/ Diop/ Balbuena/ Cresswell
Rice/ New BtoB/ Lanzini/ Nasri/ Anderson
New CF like Gomez

The squad/ bench/ rotation to include Noble, Yarmo, Antonio, Wilshere, Zaba, Xande, Snoddy, Reid, Sanchez, Diangana (though I can see him going on loan), with maybe one or two speculative acquisitions (including another striker) .

GLEN, I have myself scouted 3 games for WH although some time ago the last was in Moscow 2 years back, it’s an interesting job obviously, but these days clubs tend to have 1/2 full time scouts and employ others Worldwide on an ad hoc basis with preferred playing experience , it can get more complicated depending which countries and areas needed cover if you want. To go further I will explain how some scouts work. As some are not one club allegiance, IRONMIKE.
