The wages debate is an interesting one, but introducing a smaller basic wage which is supplemented by large appearance top ups is dangerous. In your squad of 25 only 14 can play in any Prem game.

It would be better to base bonuses on points. For each point the team wins each of the squad receives a percentage of his basic wage. That way rewards are based on success.

Appearance money is divisive and can lead to serious manager/ player issues.

It is also true that players will not come to a club where the basic weekly wage is less than elsewhere.

Allowing Rice to slip through our fingers would be madness.

Markro/ Mike, don’t think it’s good for present players or future incoming if we have a structure that is to different from the majority of clubs, it can alienate us from other clubs? It can always be argued by certain more fringe players that they aren’t being picked because we don’t want to pay them appearance money! Totally agree we must get Rice sorted or he will say enough is enough!

Changing the subject but we need to tie DIANGANA to a long contract because he's a diamond that needs polishing a bit but what a talent and we should be out of sight in the first half but what is it with us conceding goals right at the death of each half no matter if it's the 45th Mon or 90th minute it's all down to not concentrating for the whole game you just cannot switch off at any time against any team in the premier League as you will and we have been punished yet again we have had this problem for years and we are top of one league and that's throwing away a winning lead so fingers crossed it doesn't happen in the second half as for the majority of the first half we were superb against a very moderate Burnley team that's the only negative as we should be beating teams like this .
