I'm hearing we're one of a number of clubs interested in 35 year old Matt Hummels ?

Interesting, and I suppose he would be ok as a short term option, but, he does lack pace at the back. Great passer and legend defender but at 35, is he to old for the rigours of the PREMIER LEAGUE?

The players we've signed in the 30s are bang in there prime . Pretty sure if the propaganda 2 and the plastic phoney threat signed them they'd be applauded for it .

Don’t get me wrong. I’m really excited about both of our last 2 signings, but I don’t think we need a 35 yr old.

Our squads age was high enough as it was, and many on this site mentioned it. We've now signed a 31 year old for 4 years, a 30 year old for 2 years and now possibly a 35 year old. This is really strange. I know we've signed an 18 year with limited experience and a 22 year old, who Leeds fans felt showed to shine in the BIG games, but it seems rather scatter-gunned.

I think it’s difficult to go from the ‘dads army’ the last manager to the busby babes in one window. But I do take your point it is a shame the Duran deal couldn’t be got over the line and some good young defenders would be a must
