Eds are the rumours of our interest in yuya Osaka true.

sharkhammer

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it at all. Yuya Osaka only moved last year and has had a far from great season. If WHU wanted to buy him they would have to pay way, way over the odds which would be really dumb and he has to be around 30 now.}

Yes we’re improving, but surely Pelle can see that our fullbacks need major improvement.

sharkhammer

1.) 16 Jun 2019 09:44:21
Fredericks started to show signs of real quality towards the end of the season, so MP will stick with him, with Johnson in reserve. Whilst I think we still need a high quality left back, MP is targeting midfield and forwards this window (with Maripan in the background if we lose Diop, or Obiang) . We won’t have the resources to push for a top LB.

I can see us starting with Fredericks at RB and Cresswell/ Masuaku to start the season.

Prioritising LB will wait for the following summer.

2.) 16 Jun 2019 10:17:01
*meant Ogbonna, not Obiang.

3.) 16 Jun 2019 11:13:05
I agree with Marko. On a good day masuaku can be outstanding and creswell is solid, it's the consistency that let's them down not necessarily they're overall quality. A striker and holding cm to cover Rice if he needs a rest or picks up a knock is key for this window considering the funds available.

4.) 16 Jun 2019 13:11:22
I've read a few reports saying we are after the turkish LB from fenerbache Hasan ALi Kaldirim, Any truth in that Ed's?

{Ed002's Note - My notes say Bilic was keen and WHU have remained keen but the player may not be keen on leaviing Fenerbahce.}

5.) 16 Jun 2019 18:34:53
Thanks Ed!

6.) 17 Jun 2019 23:34:41
Let's get something that's dragging on a bit MASUAKU isn't a defender he's more a left mid/ winger and although I don't think CRESSWELL is much better he's a better defender than MASUAKU but not a better FOOTBALLER. COYI.

Surely Pellegrini doesn’t want Arnautovic, Mitrovic and Gomez as our 3 strikers? All the same type of player.

sharkhammer

1.) 12 May 2019 11:05:28
If Arnie stays and both Chicha and Perez follow Carroll out of the door, we will need at least one more heavy hitter up front.

I would prefer Gomez on what I’ve seen, but would take Mitrovic as a reasonably close 2nd best, if that’s all we can get. Marega might be a good option to explore as well. I’m sure that MP and H are looking elsewhere too.

The increasing hype about Ceballos sounds encouraging, but I won’t hold my breath. I wonder if MP has more confidence about Wilshere as he’s been talking him up recently. He looked top class v Soton, when he came on.

I think we’ll see some playing time for Holland and Coventry too next season, most likely in cup matches.

I would promote Trott to second keeper and save new keeper cash to put towards outfield players.

A newly fit Yarmalenko, plus Anderson, Antonio and Lanzini should cover both attacking flanks without the need to bring in another winger, though there is talk of Brahimi on a free. Holland looks a good stand in, too.

As I’ve said before, Diangana should go on loan for a season to develop some end product.

It would be great to end this year on a high by beating Watford and nicking 9th.

2.) 12 May 2019 13:54:02
Newly fit yarmolenko sounds optimistic giving the severity of his injury and our record. We have lanzini in a similar predicament aswell. We can only hope its behind them and they can return to level they can play it. Certainly wouldn't be against us going for another winger benahrama looks very tricky and would be exciting to watch, I like the look of Jarrod Bowen mentioned below also. Maybe someone like Marega or Keita is a good shout who can play out wide or through the middle might be a smart move considering our budget and how many players it seems like we want to bring in.

As for Mitro a few of my geordie friends were saying how he's the type to cause issues when not in the team, sulking, bad attitude that sort of thing. That being said MP does like to play 2 up top and arnautovic can play out wide.

ceballos would be an absolute coup at his age and price. Sceltical on this though.

3.) 12 May 2019 16:59:43
Sceltical.

4.) 13 May 2019 15:00:12
I think Iron Al is right in regards to Mitrovic. Petulant and moody. We already have one like that and if he stays we will have two and if he goes please don’t replace like for like!

09 May 2019 13:35:04
Ed how much interest do we have in Jarrod Bowen? Great potential signing if true imo.

sharkhammer

{Ed002's Note - I am only aware of interest from Leicester.}

1.) 09 May 2019 21:20:16
All this about MASUAKU can't defend the world and his wife knows this even MOYES worked it out he's a LEFT MIDFIELD/ WINGER and why oh why was MP continuing to playhim at L/ B surely he's done his homework and he played further up the pitch as he cannot defend fact. COYI.

2.) 10 May 2019 08:00:32
He can't defend but for what I'm seeing maybe wrong but if pellers gets his cm to help rice and we play more possession football his attacking will be at the fore not his defending and then hel be perfect with his skills just needs a better end product.

3.) 10 May 2019 12:31:01
Agree with Mistley, look at all the top 6 and they play attacking full backs with 2 top CBs and a world class holing dcm. If team improves, we will need a player like masu so worth keeping.

4.) 12 May 2019 08:10:01
i rate Masuaku and always have, great pace and attacking winger, no he can’t defend to well but it’s obvious that’s not he’s strong position but it’s not his fault if that’s where a manager deploys him! He is a worker and grafter and an excellent crosser of the ball, big mistake if we sell him imo!

5.) 12 May 2019 11:08:55
I’m not convinced by Masuaku. He can look great flying down the flank, but I need to see more concrete contributions. I wonder how many key passes, or assists he has managed this year per minutes played.

08 May 2019 23:37:30
Eds surely we’ll be priced out by Celta and all the other clubs who want Maxi Gomez?
What does Pellegrini see in him that he wants him so much anyway?

sharkhammer

{Ed002's Note - Probably and Maxi Gomez (S) is also very unlikely as he wants European football. But there are other options the club has been considering as I have explained:
Aleksandar Mitrovic (S) is a now realistic target and very much the Andy Carroll type player - but there will be a lot of competition - time to talk with Fulham
Florian Aye (S)
Edin Dzeko (S) an enquiry has been made with his agent and if the price is low enough WHU may look to an offer, leaving enough funds to add another striker - but both Inter Milan and Everton are looking to him as well
Max Kruse (S) - has been watched by West Ham
Dario Benedetto (S) is a Plan C for Roma and RBL and suggested WHU makes no sense given his goals have dried up, his injuries over the past couple of years and he will only be able to get a one year Tier 5 work permit initially
Duvan Zapata (S) - the player was not keen on a move to West Ham in January and the €50M asking price has already scared of Newcastle and Inter Milan - WHU could return but I doubt he would be first choice, certainly at the asking price.}

1.) 09 May 2019 09:29:08
Not holding my hopes for Maxi Gomez, but would love it to happen.
MP made good signings last year. Ok, Sanchez, Wilshere, and Perez have all not been great (injuries for the most part) but they were all in-expensive backups at the end of the day. He hasn't had an attempt at buying us a decent striker yet, and I trust him and Husillos to get someone better than what we have for next season. Same goes for a high energy Centre midfielder.

2.) 09 May 2019 16:48:46
It was a good window for MP. Tbf Perez has scored some important goals for us and as you pointed out injuries with the others. I'm just hoping sully keeps his input to a minimum, MP and MH should be backed all the way.

Let's not play silly buggers with our negotiations either.

3.) 11 May 2019 09:47:30
To be fair, with Wheelchair we knew what we were getting but definitely worth keeping as can be a match winner when fit and able. At least he is on pay as you play.

4.) 12 May 2019 11:13:38
The word most of us associate with Wilshere is “if. ”

At his best he is world class. His cameo against Southampton was terrific. MP knows what he can do and has recently raved about his training.

An injury free season for him would almost certainly bag us another 10 points. if.

5.) 14 May 2019 07:23:33
Glen, Wheelchair as far as I understand is on a 3 year contract, not pay as you play, which makes him imo the worst and most stupid buy ever for us, as everybody knew except MP of his record! I think he is on £90k then £45k when not playing, that’s not good financial business and absolutely unfair to other players that are capable, you can’t live on past glory forever, but he’s doing all right out of it! All he is capable of is 15 minutes when fit, with the odd through ball and flick which some fans think is wonderful when he does it! When I see him run and chase during a full season without his hands on his hips moaning and waving his arms about and going down each time he’s tackled, maybe my opinion will change, needs to pack up smoking as well whilst a professional!

Surely a LB is priority?

sharkhammer

1.) 09 Aug 2020 14:06:28
Totally agree. Gk, lb cb and a cm would do it for me.

2.) 11 Aug 2020 15:18:29
Don’t forget we need another striker.

13 Jan 2019 13:24:05
So mike are we interested in any of Mitrovic, jovic or Wilson to replace arnie?

Also who is the top target to replace him?

sharkhammer

1.) 13 Jan 2019 18:37:47
Job If would be perfect replacement for aurni.

2.) 13 Jan 2019 19:56:43
Callum Wilson has a lot going for him, BUT firstly I just can’t see him coming to us, and secondly Bournemouth are quoting Astronomical money around 60m and lastly he’s not a physical presence, IF indeed that’s what we want, THERE ARE a few options, it depends wether we are going in for a replacement now or in the summer. IRONMIKE.

3.) 13 Jan 2019 20:17:24
Moussa marega?

4.) 13 Jan 2019 23:31:50
He would be on my short list for sure, just the job for us. IRONMIKE.

05 Jan 2019 01:32:36
Pony tailed player mike?

sharkhammer

1.) 05 Jan 2019 10:43:12
Carroll/ Vida.

09 Aug 2018 22:57:39
What will happen with Edmilson Fernandes this year with all those players in front of him?

sharkhammer

1.) 10 Aug 2018 10:04:40
He’s off to Fiorentina on loan with option to buy in the pipeline IRONMIKE.

30 Jun 2018 12:39:48
So what exactly happened in this 5 way meeting then Mike?

sharkhammer

1.) 30 Jun 2018 13:31:54
Nothing I believe shark, still more horse trading to be done in this one mate.

2.) 30 Jun 2018 18:14:52
We might be better at trading horses! IRONMIKE.
