More talk has surfaced about going after Yaya Toure who is available, any truth in this?

New rules state we cannot even now take frees until January IRONMIKE.

2.) 15 Aug 2018 23:37:15
He hasn't got a club mike does that change things?

3.) 16 Aug 2018 00:37:00
I read free agents are still allowed if they were a free agent when the window closed. Would be unreasonable for a player not to be allowed to play football or earn a living for 6 months.

4.) 16 Aug 2018 15:30:13
No signings at all possible under new rules Macia was original target but now we have Husillos it’s still possible if course if it’s affordable under the two heads are better than one. , IRONMIKE.

5.) 17 Aug 2018 05:51:47
This is on the news sites: They can. Normal rules apply with free agents who can be signed after the close of the transfer window. However, the player would have to have been out of contract before the close of the Premier League window

If that isn’t right where are the rules published?

6.) 17 Aug 2018 14:20:48
It’s a slightly grey area hence the rush Everton undertook with Bernard and Palace with Meyer. IRONMIKE.

7.) 18 Aug 2018 22:21:29
That's what I've read SDL unless what we are reading is old rules but nothing stating it says free agents can't be signed as long as they haven't got a contract up to the windie shutting.

Was a poor effort against Cardiff, too many games this season Westham have had the opportunity to take advantage of other teams around slipping up, but have blown it.
Something is not working away from home and Pellegrini needs to work it out quickly, if we don't want to give up on our season now.
It's typical Westham, put up a decent fight against better teams but lack the motivation to deliver against the smaller clubs. The way the team played against Wimbledon in the cup was a disgrace, we are seeing too many of those performances.
I don't know what the answer is, but fans will begin to vent their anger if we see more of what was dished up yesterday.
I listen to Pellegrini in his post match interviews, he says the right things but we still see this frustrating inconsistency.
What is the answer?

Just goes to show that there is progression this season but we are a mid table team currently. The squad is not good enough and I think a few more windows before we are in a better place.

Mike, what is the situation regarding Arnautovic's injury? Doesn't sound too good from reports, if he continually plays then it won't heal. Who can replace him, Carroll? Is Pellegrini looking for a January buy?

Hammersfan

Seems Arnie is carrying injuries, and realistically. He shouldn’t be involved with Internationsls, but countries can overrule clubs under present rules, , it’s all down to the player, No we havnt got a second striker as I have mentioned before nor have we someone who can play with him as a two, Hernandez and Antonio have been tried and frankly neither is any good, this has to be addressed, which leaves Carroll Who cannot play this style anyway we must absolutely get a second striker and part company with the others. IRONMIKE.

2.) 11 Oct 2018 13:32:57
What about the youngster, Silva? Or not ready yet?

3.) 11 Oct 2018 15:47:06
We will hear of him after the break, He s been injured. IRONMIKE.

4.) 11 Oct 2018 16:00:24
Arnie's injuries are a big worry, I hope he does not play for Austria.
Perez and Hernandez are good players, but part of the issue is they are very different to Arnie. Marko is a complete striker who can do EVERYTHING, he is quick, strong, big and skillfull and our players can get him the ball in ANY fashion and he will manage. Perez and Chica though are specific types of players who need the ball to feet or in behind, the other players then need to adapt how they supply these guys when they play, they cannot expect them to do what Arnie does. We should clone Arnie somehow!
Perez is not a CF IMO, better out wide as he looks for assists. He was brought in as a cheap squad player IMO, but i hope he gets a chance and proves me wrong.
Chica still has ok goals contributed per min played, despite playing in a very poor and negative WHU team since joining us, which does not suit his game at all. Under MP he COULD be an asset if he can get fit and we can retain the ball better and higher up the pitch.
If things do not change from them though Mike is 100% correct, it needs to be addressed. AC Cannot be relied upon, Silva is a winger I believe, and Holland and Browne also wingers. It is obvious MP knows this though, and was actively looking for backup for Arnie by chasing Marega a lot in the summer who is a more physical and complete striker.

5.) 11 Oct 2018 17:09:34
Marega may not be THE player we get BUT he’s the TYPE of player we need. IRONMIKE.

6.) 12 Oct 2018 09:39:29
Pérez needs to be told to sit on the last defender in the middle as I saw him chase down a ball played back to Brighton’s keeper and I didn’t realise how quick he was so I’d play him through the middle imo. COYI.

What top manager in their right mind would come to a club fighting relegation most of the season? . A team that lacks at least 6 quality players which would require a sizable budget to make good. Westham's transfer budget supposedly £60m plus players sold, which might push it up somewhat but we have to sell them first. This all takes time, and bringing new players in will take time. The new manager will have their work cut out as well as the time it will take to stamp his own style of play on the team. This is a big ask for any manager but not impossible. It all boils down to whether Sullivan is prepared to offer a decent contract, surely he must have learned his lesson, you can't buy success on the cheap. Manager is the most important person at the club, sets the style, tactics, player recruitment, get the wrong man everything suffers, we all know that only too well. Sullivan needs to go all out and get their man, with a decent offer.

Hammers fan I agree with what u say but most fan fail to remember we are goverened by. wage cap on lot of quality players will on downward or sideways for more money we should try and bring in a wage cape with bono bonuses for goals n assists even tackles x many of sussces full tackles.

That inconsistency continues from last season. Westham play one, two, maybe three good games in a row and we start thinking they've turned the corner, then reality hits home in the next half a dozen games. I cannot see it changing with Pellegrini, sure he has improved the attacking intent of the team (having stated that, the last few games I have watched I'm not so sure) but it's come at the expense of defending as a unit, they look fragile . Everton effortlessly calved through the midfield in their counterattack play, whenever they attacked they looked like they were going to score, everytime Westham attacked they looked clueless. I'm getting fed up with the excuses, this club is still a mediocre side, the same problems are there for all to see this season as last season, defensively weak, midfield cover poor, and an isolated forward up front. As for the playing style, it's fast becoming a shambles, no pressing of the opposition when they have the ball, (Pellegrini should spend time going through the Czech v England match with the team to see how good the Czech's pressed against England for the entire game), also there is no pass and movement going on, and as for the tempo they play at, the opposition has no worries defending against that.
I see the wisdom Sullivan holding off extending Pellegrini's contract .

Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson are the three Pellegrini will use behind Heller, and probably Rice and Noble/ Medel sitting behind. That is a quality set up, plenty of creativity there, to break open those packed defences that teams often play. From what I saw first half of Lanzini against Man Cty in the Asia Trophy, he has plenty to offer, maybe not at his peak yet but I think he will get there come the start of the season. Yarmalenko, Antonio, Snodgrass and Wilshire (who looks in great form could well start against Man Cty) provide quality back up.

Belbuena, Lanzini and Fornals all speak Spanish which helps. But what a great capture Fornals is, to add Gomez is the icing on the cake. Lanzini, Anderson, Yarmalenko, Antonio, Fornals, Wilshire are all quality attacking midfielders, most of those would get into any top 6 side.

I wouldn't say no to Mourinho but if I had a choice it would be the manager Sullivan had targeted before Marcelo Bielsa of Ledds Utd, great tactician. Guardiola rates him as one of the best.

Be surprised if they give up on Anderson, considering he is high priority with Pellegrini, Sullivan must realise this. Will only cause discontent if this scenario with targeted players keeps repeating itself. The two or three big name players you would expect to pay over the odds, every club expects it when they go for a big name player.
