I am concerned with the recent push for Mitrovic. I don't feel he is the sort of player we should go for, he is temperamental and i'm not convinced he would score us enough goals.

My main preference is for Arnautovic to stay and rediscover his best form, something I am convinced he can do under Pellegrini. I think Arnautovic is a top drawer player, his off the ball runs are superb.

Absolutely agree with everything you've said there.

Agree we do not want ANOTHER player with a volatile temperament like Arnie, so i too question whether we want Mitrovic a little. I would CERTAINLY say do not have both. Does anyone know, is Mitrovic more of a pain than Arnie?
If we do not want Mitrovic because of his temperament though, then surely we have to apply the same logic to Arnie, and say enough is enough so move on.
A good squad is made up of players you can rely on to perform consistently all season, and Arnie has proved at every club he has played for that he cannot be reliable over the duration of a season. For me, he is too inconsistent to be a top class no.1 striker (despite on his day being very good), but is paid the salary of one that is at that level. This causes problems, so ideally i would side with moving him on.
It looks like we are going to invest in a key striker, which surely puts Arnie into 2nd place, or at LEAST in a battle for starts. Unless he changes, i see no other outcome other than more issues next season. Do we want this?

Yes, I agree with much of that Nick, but as MP improves the squad, each player will know that a first team place isn’t nailed on and that rotation becomes increasingly likely. He will just have to make sure he sells that message to those he wants to come in this window.

If we can only bring in two:

Gomez

Ceballos.

Don't understand the hype around Mitrovitch his stats are pretty poor

In the season just ended he scored 11 PL goals 3 of which were penalties so 8 goals from open play from 214 shots of which 80 were on target so it means the GKS he faced saved ust over 6 out of 7 hardly inspiring is it.

Am I missing the point but MITROVIC trouble I haven't read or heard he's trouble so could someone enlighten me on this news or non factual as he imo should be a player we are all over at tge right price because when ARNIE scores 5 or 6 in as many games what club would he like to play for then or his brother as I am yet to be convinced he's totally committed to WEST HAM but it's all about opinions and there's mine. COYI.

Agree Whorya, I also asked if anyone knew if he was more of a pain than Arnie. Any examples in his past Eds?

Given our budget Markro, i'd be happy with just those two. BUT (assuming Rice will be with us next season), if Dec has a good season and we do not get EUROPA next year then surely he goes next summer. I would rather we try and stretch ourselves this summer as we have good assets on long contracts in Diop and Rice, which would minimise long term risk. I'm not talking £100m-£150m net spend, but £60m net spend should get us what we need to push closer to the likes of Man Utd.
Whatever the case (30m or 60m), i am optimistic MP will get more out of the squad next season.

{Ed001's Note - he did have a few issues as a youngster but he seems to have grown out of them. Even when on the sidelines with Newcastle he was not as difficult to deal with as he had been in the past, though he did force his way out on loan, it was to get gametime, rather than to be a pain.}
