I read Cardiff are seeking opinions from other Premiership league clubs to see how they stand on paying the £15m fee to Nantes for the awful tragic death of Emiliano Sala! I am staggered at even the implication that they will not pay! Who are running the club, unscrupulous business people? If we move house and Insure the new property and before we move in, the house is destroyed by a fire, we would rightly be expecting to be fully insured? This is the best example I can think of coming anywhere near what this poor family is going through? The FA should impose an automatic relegation clause that will be implemented if Cardiff fail to pay Nantes! I would hang my head in shame if I supported Cardiff if that happened! Be interesting to hear other views on this?

If anything. all money should be given to the family of sala and the pilot. That's the decent thing to do.

Realistically football clubs are businesses now and as abhorrent as it may seem Cardiff are probably going through a process they need to. While I understand the analogy to the house this is more complex because there is an employment contract with the employee and then there is a transfer process which complicates it. If there is an insurance policy that will respond in order for it to pay out there will be an obligation for Cardiff not to settle without defending their position and so this may just part of that process.

Cardiff’s case is well they legally they havnt got one, Sala had a medical and signed a 3-5 year deal with them, ar which point he became a Cardiff player, Now the welsh club at that point should Have insured that player as part of their squad, , or did they? That’s the question, Nantes are within there rights to expect the payment agreement to stand, as far as I can see, why not? Under the unfortunate circumstances, , Cardiff are trying to twist and turn, perhaps they are not insured or to the full amount, we shall see. IRONMIKE.

Mike, I am really pleased to hear you say Cardiff do not seem to have a case to wriggle out of payment, I know very little about Football law or contracts, but experience of life in general tells me that nobody are forced to pay whatever price for anything? I find it totally ridiculous to suggest the agent inflated the price by saying other clubs were interested in buying Sala, Cardiff were not forced to buy him, surely the agent was only doing what is done constantly in business and in a sales environment to instigate a sale?

{Ed002's Note - There was interest in Sala from other sides so it wasn't misleading.}

YES there was interest of course, BUT Cardiff called off this transfer and, then renegotiated it, at their own volition then as you qute rightly said NO one had a gun put to their heads and said buy him and McKay apparently helped negotiate easier terms than the initial agreement AND Cardiff are not telling the truth anyway ITS BECAUSE they have underinsured the player They want other clubs, to quote their, valuations, WH was Around 10m, so they can say they overpaid, ( for that player ) but that’s their problem . It’s ridiculous OH just wait a second now they are now saying the player wasn’t registered, as their player anyway well if he wasn’t you don’t need to write letters to anybody as he isn’t your player unless registered, . THE FA need. To sort this out Because Cardiff are not telling the truth one way or the other NANTES have done nothing wrong IRONMIKE.

Mike, Great bit of research, bloody snaky b———-s, no more than pin striped robbing gangsters for me running the club, there are moral issues here as well, that for me override legal issues whether they exist or not! I would like to see clubs refuse to deal with Cardiff whilst that man is in control. We all know they are running a business but so are Nantes, so pay up what you owe Cardiff, if not that man should not be allowed to have any financial interest or investment in a Football club!
