It is reported that the East Stand will be named after Billy Bonds.

For my money Billy is the greatest West Ham TEAM player of my lifetime.

I am a great admirer of Bobby Moore who was undoubtedly a world class player and deserves all the accolades showered on him. However he was a big game player and I think Billy was the greatest club player week in week out over his long career.

So for me Billy Bonds is the greatest West Ham player of my lifetime?

Anybody agree?

Syd can’t disagree with you that Billy played like us supporters wanted to see. Over the years it is difficult to say who was the best. Sir trev for me was excellent, Jonny sissons was a personal favourite growing up. But so glad that BB is getting this honour. I think all us hammers will have a personal favourite but all will agree long over due this accolade for Bonzo.

Or how about Frank McAvennie!

Imagine how many he would of scored if he was sober, got to be up there just because of that.
I struggle to walk in straight line when pissed so for him to run, dribble and shot puts him there or thereabouts.

I understand why our younger members vote for Macavennie or Di Canio the great entertainer, the older ones must understand if you were not in the Bonds era , it is difficult to fathom his aura out Let me explain the pitches are now of good quality year round, which allows the real footballers to shine, back then the Boleyn as most other grounds post November was a mud bath save the wing area, , , so the call on stamina was. much greater, I recall one game against Stoke I think 0/ 0 ten minutes to play we had a few lightweights In the team, Paul Brush on the deck says i'm eexhausted Bonds by the touchline picks him up by the shirt collar, Your a F+++++g disgrace, get up, and your training with me this week boy, he shoves brush into the stoke box , Bonds go’s Forward creates mayhem in the box, ball runs free hits brush on his backside robson is there we score Lord what a weeks ttrainiing Brush had with Bonds DO WE have anybody like that now of course not, After Training Bonds got a bus home from outside the ground eventually he bought a car. Mike, I am with you on B. B. every step of the way, I am an older poster as I have stated previously (74) not the oldest on here maybe, but was a regular at home games from when I first started work earning money in 1959/ 60. BB was a giant to have in your side, every game, he gave everything in every game 100%, those that are to young cannot appreciate what we saw, week in week out, not skilful, but the ferocity of his game and enthusiasm was electricity for the crowd, who adored him! He wasn’t a “look at me” player, so modest and unassuming, but expected the same effort from everybody, a true leader to have in the trenches with you, you wouldn’t want Bill steaming towards you as an opposing forward I can tell you 🤣👍⚒⚒.

I went to my first game in 1985 and was able to catch the end of his career. Shame never saw him in his prime but still magnificant then.
I did live Devonshire and DiCanio later on, Stewart and Dicks very much in that die for the shirt attitude.

I used to love the bald assassin “Pop Robson” he was basically a poor mans Alan Shearer. (104 goals for the IRONs) but cost about 90 grand on old money.
